Course description The course focuses on critical issues in contemporary and popular world literature and genres.

Course Objectives:
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
1. Define the meaning of literature and popular literature, popular literature in relation to popular culture, various genre in popular literature classification.
2. Identify the characteristics of popular literature, its forms, and emerging themes in popular literary works.
3. Identify and analyze the historical, social, political, and literary dynamics which foster the development of a specific genre of popular literature or of a specific
theme manifest in popular literature.
4. Identify and analyze themes and concerns which define the genre, reflect the culture, characterize the history of the genre, extend across cultures, and/or appeal
to a given culture or subculture.
5. Identify, analyze, and discuss ways the popular genre affects the target audiences within that public and impacts the development of mainstream literature.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
1. The students must install both zoom and schoology in their
mobile device (smartphone) or computer for online class. Prelim Grade- 70% of the class standing + 30 % of the Preliminary Grade
2. Every students must create their own account on zoom
Midterm Grade- Preliminary Grade +2 (Tentative Midterm Grade)
and schoology to access the different online courses.

3. Homeworks and other activities, online and/or offline, Where: Tentative Midterm Grade= 70% of the class standing + 30% of the Midterm Grade
must be completed or submitted on or before the said
deadline of submission. Final Grade- Midterm Grade +2 (Tentative Final Grade)

4. If the students do not have internet connection to access

courses, the students must get a copy of the printed module
or hand-outs from the subject instructor.
5. The students must be able to complete all the other
requirements to be able to pass the subject otherwise failed.
