6) What can you learn about ancient Greece by studying their urn and plaque?
7) How can this article enhance your understanding of The Odyssey?

Answers:
1) We can infer that Odysseus was a very clever. In the passage says, he was the
one who came up with a scheme to make the trojans think that the Greeks had
finally given up. He ordered a giant wooden horse to be built and left at the gates.
And when the Trojans woke up and saw it there, with not one Greek insight, they
assumed they had left them a peace offering. When the trojans were taking the
horse inside Troy, discovering too late, it was filled with Greek soldiers and Troy
was going to be terminated. All that thanks to the intelligence and leadership of
Odysseus, they ended up winning the trojan war.

2) The Odyssey deals with Odysseus’ adventures as he makes his way home
from Troy and with events that take place on Ithaca just before and after his return.
3) The Iliad and The Odyssey influenced so many writers because his epics
became models for many later writers like the Roman poet Virgil, who wrote his
own epic in Latin. Many more writers and poets throughout English literature
found inspiration in Homer’s epics. For example: Chaucer in the Middle Ages,
Shakespeare in the Renaissance, And Keats in the Romantic era. He also helps
shape classical Greek culture and the epics contributed to the development of many
later Western ideas and values. And still artists of all kinds continue to draw on
Homer’s work. For example: James Joyce published his unbreaking novel Ulysses
(Latin form of Odysseus name) which he turned a day in the life of an ordinary
man into an Odyssean journey.
4) The main idea in the section Homer: The Epic Poet is how many people he
inspired and still does and how his epics became models for many poets and how
artists of all kinds continue to draw on Homers work. And how many people used
his work for creating their own poems or art. It basically shows us how good of a
poet he was, that inspired so many people around the world.
5) Artist use seascapes in their depictions of The Odyssey because most of the
story takes place at sea and this helps portray the variability of his trials. And it
also shows us how much he needed to travel overseas. For example: The
wandering of Odysseus after the departure from Troy with a fleet of 12 ships
carrying about 720 men. He encounters various monsters who try to devour him
and enchanting women who try to keep him from his wife. As we see in the
passage he travels through seas and majority of events happen over seas.
6) By studying their urns and plaques we can learn about how they dressed and
how their culture was behind the art. We can see that they were able to precisely
depict what happened in their day to day for us.
7) This article enhances my understanding of The Odyssey by telling me who
the main character of the odyssey is and how he acts and what are the events he is
going to pass through. It also shows me how even Greek gods and goddesses
interfere in his events and even make it harder and shows how much he needs to
suffer before he gets home. When they talk about the author it also enhances to my
understanding because it shows me how he not only constructed the poems and
books, but it also shows how inspirational he was for other writers and artist. In the
maps, it shows me where the places are in the poems, so I don’t get lost and know
what place they are talking about and where they are located. I can also know what
the important characters are because of the chart that is shown by order of mention.
When they talk about The Odyssey in art it shows me that they also told it in form
of pictures, potteries, painting etc. It also shows how their culture was by the way
they drew the paintings and by how they showed the way they dressed etc. And the
artists technique helps me understand and appreciate their work and the beauty of
literary text. I am truly excited to read The Odyssey.
