Critical review " The differences of writing and speaking language"

Spoken language involves speaking and listening skills whereas written language involves
reading and writing skills. The main difference between spoken and written language is that
written language is more formal and complex than spoken language. Spoken communication
includes the words we say aloud, while written communication includes the words we write
down.

Thus, speaking language is the ability to speak and communicate by using voice, tongue, and
lips. Then written language is a written form of letters, using active writing and worming ability.

1. Spoken language is generally less formal than written language.

2. Spoken language tends to be less precise than written language.

3. Written language is often more articulate and sophisticated than spoken language.

4. Spoken language can be more communicative than written language due to extra cues such
as body language and tone.

In my opinion, I agree with all the evidence supporting "differences of language

and speaking" from some of the above evidence that speaking and writing
clearly differs both in terms of use, age, features, components, and its usage
skills. Writing is active and word-formulating skills while speaking as a speaking
skill using voice, tongue, and lips. Speaking is more expressive as speaking a
sentence than speaking it can also be both formal and informal for its use.
Language is either the ability to communicate or the means to communicate. In
addition, communicating with oneself has two ways of writing and speaking
both sound and in gestures.

Speaking skills include four things: vocabulary, speech, eloquence, and grammar.
With these 4 speaking language will be more structured and better delivery. Some
experts express opinions on speaking:

a. Suhendar (1992) says, speaking is a process of changing one's mind or feelings

into speech another of meaningful language sounds.

b. Depdikbud (1985) means speaking to another by using spoken language and

thus being understood by another person.

c. Tarigan (1983): speaking is the ability to articulate or articulate sounds or

words to express, express and convey thoughts, ideas, and feelings.

From the opinions of some of the above, it is explained that speaking is a forging
of thoughts and ideas that others can understand and that they have a meaning.

* In the opinion of burhan nurgiyantoro (2001: 273), writing is an activity of

expressing ideas through the medium of language. Writing is a productive and
expressive activity so that the writer must have the ability to use vocabulary,
grammar, and language structure.
