Taoism is a religion that was born in China and has a long journey in Chinese civilization and culture. The
development of Taoism in Indonesia has not been known since when it entered the archipelago, there is
no clear evidence to explain its spread. even so, the influence of Taoism began to affect the lives of
Indonesian people both in terms of religion and philosophy of life. The values taught in Taoism are
closely related to the problems that often occur in Indonesia, namely the social formation between
individuals. There are three types of values taught in Taoism such as Living according to natural law,
living according to natural nature and Living Fairly. The first value is 'Living in accordance with the Laws
of Nature', in this value humans are taught that we are only a temporary deposit from the creator, the
earth and the sky and their contents are the property of the universe. therefore, humans cannot possibly
know about the whole structure of the universe including its natural laws. Taoism does not focus on the
problem of the overall structure of the universe but this teaching focuses on understanding the
principles of natural law which can be oriented into its ethical teachings so that each individual will
realize that they were created from nature, for nature and will also return to nature.

China there are many types of religions that have developed but there are three types of religions from
China which are not only widely followed but are well known by many countries. The three religions are
Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. These three teachings complement each other, and serve as a

foundation in the daily life of the Chinese people. There are fundamental differences from these three
religions, if Confucianism emphasizes more ethical values about life, Buddhism emphasizes more about

teaching about human relations with nature. The cause of the emergence of Taoism is related to the
situation of the Chou Kingdom which at that time was experiencing a period of collapse due to an
unstable government system. The situation caused suffering for many people so that from some they

'eudaemonistic' which means that every human being must seek true happiness for himself until
happiness can be said to be true happiness. This teaching was later developed by two figures namely Lao

Tzu and Chuang Tzu. Lao Tzu has the opinion that this Taoist teaching is a way of God which has the same
meaning as 'Energy' which cannot be touched, created and seen. This teaching teaches every individual

Taoism is a teaching that focuses on Absolute freedom. Chuang Tzu has a goal to create a world without
