INSPECTION MAIN
FUEL CUT-OFF VALVE CHECK
If the sound of the float valve moving (knocking sound) can
be heard when the valve assembly is gently shaken up and Group
down, then the valve is okay. 13

FUEL GAUGE UNIT CHECK


Refer – Combination Meter.

FUEL FILTER REPLACEMENT


<Variable-venturi carburettor>
1. Remove the fuel tank cap. Depressurize the fuel tank.
2. Remove the fuel filter from the filter clamp.
3. Disconnect the fuel hose and fuel filter and remove the
fuel filter.
Caution
Cover with rags to prevent fuel from splashing out.
4. Install the fuel filter and start the engine. Check for fuel
leaks.
<MPI>
1. Bleed the residual pressure from inside the fuel line.
(Refer – OnĆvehicle Service.)
Fuel filter 2. Remove the air intake hose and canister.
3. Hold the fuel filter with a spanner and remove the eye
bolt. Then remove the high-pressure hose.
Caution
As there will be some pressure remaining in the fuel
pipe line, cover it with a rag to prevent fuel from
spraying out.

29 Nm Eye bolt 4. Hold the fuel filter with a spanner and loosen the flare MAIN
nut. Then disconnect the main pipe connection.

7. After installation, check that there are no fuel leaks.
37 Nm (1) Apply battery voltage to the fuel pump drive terminal

FUEL GAUGE UNIT REPLACEMENT


1. Remove the rear seat cushion.
2. Remove the plug.

3. Disconnect the fuel gauge unit connector and remove


the fuel gauge unit.

4. Apply the specified sealant to the contact surfaces of


the plug and the floor pan, and install the plug.
Specified sealant:
3M 8513 Grommeted Windshield Sealer (Black)
5. Install the rear seat cushion
