Is PCR-based test effective to use as an inter-province travel requirement?

PCR or polymerase chain reaction, is a laboratoirum test to detect genetic material from cell,
bactery, or virus. The genetic material inside cell, include bactery or virus, could be DNA
(deoxyribonucleic acid) or RNA (ribonucleic acid). Both of these genetic materials are different
by their structure and the chains inside it.

DNA or RNA could be detected by PCR trough a technic called “amplication”. Because of
the PCR test, genetic material from some diseases will be detected and then it could help doctor
to diagnose the type of diseases. Actually PCR test is used to diagnose many diseases, like
human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, and
many more. Besides those diseases, corona virus diseases or usually called “Covid-19” is also
could be diagnose by PCR test.

We have been trough this pandemic for two years. We can say that world is already healed
slowly from this pandemic. Now, we can go to vacation, but still, we have to always obey to the
health protocol to keep our safety from the virus. The government ask us to get vaccination as
soon as possible for the first and the important thing for the requirement to to everywhere. And if
you want to go to other city or even inter-province, you have to get PCR test before it.

But, the question is, is PCR test effective to use an inter-province travel requirement? I would
say no, it’s not. We don’t have to get PCR test if to use an inter-province travel requirement.
Why? Because, antigen test is enough for inter province travel requirement. Antigen test is valid
to be the requirement, but if you want to be more specific for the test result, you can use PCR
test, then. Besides, PCR test is too expensive for some people. It can takes Rp. 900,0000 for one
test. As you know, we are trying to get up from the unstabilyt economic. So, for me PCR test is
is just an option, not a must.
