Name exhibitions held in Leyte recently for each of these industries and identify
its services:

a) Health
 Tacloban City, Leyte unite against Covid-19 (October 15, 2020)
 It is to further strengthen COVID-19 response in the region, the
local chief executives (LCEs) of Tacloban City and Leyte Province
agreed to cooperate more closely with each other in implementing
protocols to combat Covid-19.
b) Real Property
 Annual Audit Report on the Municipality of Hinunangan, Southern Leyte
for CY 2015.
c) Travel and Tourism
 Eastern Visayas tourism services, products take center stage in hybrid
travel fair (Tuesday August 10, 2021)
 This showcase the different tourism destinations and services that
Eastern Visayas can offer to its visitors.
TASK SHEET 05:

Draw a diagram and explain the interrelationship of the stakeholders of the


events industry.

EXPLANATION :
Stakeholders are individuals, groups of individuals or organizations that hold a

special interest in an event including its operations and success.Stakeholder relations is

the practice of forging mutually beneficial connections with third-party groups and

individuals that have a “stake” in common interest. These relationships build networks

that develop credible, united voices about issues, products, and/or services that are

important to your organization. There are two types of event stakeholders, the primary

and the secondary. The primary stakeholders are the employees, volunteers, sponsors,

suppliers, spectators and attendess and participants while the secondary stakeholders

are government, host community, emergency services, general business and media and

tourisms organisations. These events stakeholders were connected to each other

because their works and duties needed each other. The employees needed the

cooperation and help of the volunteers and suppliers, they also need the support of the

spectators and attendess and participants to achieve their goals. For the secondary

stakeholders, they are of big help and contribution in making a successful event. All of

these stakeholders gain benefits because of their mutual interest.

ACTIVITY 07:
Visit www.tpb.gov.ph/mice-main/services and compare the services offered by
the Tourism Promotions Board with those of other convention Bureaus. What are the
similarities and differences?

 The TPB shall be responsible for marketing and promoting the Philippines
domestically and internationally as a major global tourism destination,
highlighting the uniqueness and assisting the development of its tourism
products and services, with the end in view of increasing tourist arrivals and
tourism investment. The TPB are on hands on their clients, they do the service
from the airport upon the arrival of the attendess up to the organizing of the
whole event and everything that must be organized. While convention and visitor
bureaus assist convention organizers with the marketing of group meetings and
conventions, supplying services such as hotel reservations, tours, concierges,
and on-site registration is a destination’s marketing body, and its main focus or
purpose is to increase the number of events, conferences and meetings held in
the destination whether a city, a region or a country.

Guide Questions:

1. What are the strengths and weaknesses of holding an international congress in a


hotel as compared to a convention center?
 Strength
 The location of the hotel can be near to the airport.
 It would be more relaxing and convenient for the participants to
stay in a hotel than in a convention center.
 A hotel can offer different services to the participants.
 Their would be a comfortable space to rest or sleep for the
participants.
 The dining experience would be great and more convenient for the
participants if they’re in the hotel than in a convention center.
 Weaknesses
 Because of the structure of the hotel the participants may enjoy
more the venue than the event.
 They will pay a higher price because of the accommodation.
 The sorroundings or the designs are more focused on hotel
features than convention features.
2. What infrastructure must be present in a destination to host international
events?
 Airport. It is where the participants arrive and it would be better to hold
an international event near the airport.
 Overpass. The participants may have a hard time adjusting to the new
environment specially when it comes to rode policies. An overpass would
be great to have near the event location to make the participants more
comfortable and don’t be hassle.
 Restaurants and Hotels. If an event would be held in a convention
center it would be more convenient if their are hotels and restaurants
nearby for the participants to have time and space it ever they needed to
get out from the convention center.
 Terminals. Not all participants came riding an airplane. It would also be
great if it would be near to the terminals to be convenient for participants
who ride another types of transportation.
 Governance infrastructure. To ensure the safety of all the participants.
3. What is the government's role in the conduct of such international affairs?
 The government would always be responsible for any international affairs.
Their role is to keep the participants or attendess safe, in terms of health
and security. They are also responsible in making the guests feel welcome
and comfortable in the country they were in for the event.
4. Who among the government agencies takes the lead and works directly with EE?
 The Tourism Promotions Board or the Department of Tourism
(DOT). The Tourism Promotions Board is an attached agency of the
Department of Tourism, it is the agency that leads and works directly with
EE.
5. What specific government services are mentioned in the case study?
 The government services that are mentioned in the case study are as
follows :
 The DFA who is provided with specific information on delegates
who would need to secure visa to enter the country and to help
promote attendance overseas.
 The DOT Office at the airport must be provided with the delegates'
or at least the speakers' exact flight details to arrange a welcome
reception, which may include a rondalla performance and
sampaguita leis upon request.
 The Bureau of Quarantine who is particularly invited when alerts on
diseases, such as SARS, avian flu, and Ebola are up.
 The Bureau of Customs who provides important information on
duties and taxes levied on goods entering the country.
 And the police must be informed of the specific tour itinerary to
include the spouse program, and whether rider escorts and
paneling would be required.
