Design the rigid eave haunched connection of the portal
frame as shown in figure (8). The connection is subjected
to a bending moment "M" , shearing force "Q" and the
beam axial force "N". The beam is IPE 360, and the
column is IPE 500 using Pretension bolts and Fillet weld.
The M, Q and N values are shown in the following table.

Design the rigid apex haunched connection of the portal

section of the column is just under the crane bracket
(point b). The vertical bracing system is taken as shown in

For the truss carrying crane shown in figure, is required


to:
1. Design the roof column BC using an lPE section if the
maximum normal force (N) and the corresponding
bending moment at A (M), given from table (2.1).
2. Design the crane column AB as:
i) Two channels connected together using welded
batten plates.
ii) Four angles spaced 55 cm in direction of truss and
35 cm in direction perpendicular to truss using
welded lacing bars.
if the maximum bending moment at A (M), the
corresponding normal force (N) and the maximum
shearing force at A (Q) are given from table (2.2).
