Fast food is often low in vitamins, minerals, fibre and antioxidants, which is the reason why it can

destroy people´s health. Today I will introduce some of the long term effects of fast food such as –
increasing blood sugar, obesity, risk of heart disease, high cholesterol, and reduced cardiovascular
function.

Eating food low in vitamins, minerals and fibres and high-carb fast food increases blood sugar. The body
takes in a large amount of white sugar while consuming white -flour-based-foods such as the burger
buns or the french fries which go together with the burger. Having overconsuming these foods, may
cause or may lead to many diseases such as obesity.
Obesity is a disease when you have a body mass index of 30 or higher and puts you at risk of high
cholesterol.

The Causes of Obesity – genetic, behavioral, metabolic and hormonal influences on body weight such as
any other disease as well. The obesity occurs when someone is taking in more calories that can be burnt
through exercise and everyday activities. Then, the body stores these excess calories as fat. People with
obesity might eat more calories before feeling full, feel hungry sooner, or eat more because of steress or
anxiety.

Another long term effect of fast food are bones weakening. Fast food is typically loaded with sodium.
One Big Mac has 970 mg of sodium which is over one-third of the daily recommended allowance. A high
sodium intake can cause your bones to weaken, leading to possible osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a bone
disease which can happen when the body loses too much bone, makes too little bone or both. As a
result, bones become weak and may break from a fall or in serious causes even from sneezing od minor
bumps.

Reduced cardiovascular function – eating food high in salt often causes an increase in blood pressure,
which makes a person more likely to have a heart attack, stroke, kidney disease or high cholesterol

High Cholesterol

High cholesterol can cause a dangerous accumulation of cholesterol and other deposit on the walls of
your arteries. These deposits can reduce blood flow through your arteries, which can cause
complications. High cholesterol can be inherited, but it´s often the result of unhealthy lifestyle choices,
which make it preventable and treatable. A healthy diet, regular exercise and sometimes medication can
help reduce high cholesterol
