RATIONALE
At first glance, consecutive numbers may seem quite simple but it has actually a whole
lot more to offer. It can be used in almost every field of mathematics and science. The
consecutive increasing composite integers are multiplied with each other and adding
constants will always be a composite number. But this is not always the case. Take for
example the numbers 5, 6 and 7. The product of these numbers is 210. Then add the
constant 1, the sum would be 211 and 211 is a prime. There are a lot of counterexamples for
this topic but only those that result in a composite number will be investigated. The goal of
this investigation is to observe, explore and make conjectures on the product of
consecutive integers that will contribute in extending the knowledge of students about this
mathematical concept.
