ACTIVITY TITLE: Essay #11: Substance Abuse Education

REALIZATION, INSIGHT AND LEARNINGS

What is your role or contribution in the fight against substance misuse and abuse?
Student’s Answer:

In our society, the usage of drugs is worsening, that even teens are already using them. Drugs can put
people's health and safety at risk that can lead to abusing innocent people. Involving ourselves in drugs can
risk changes in our behavior, bad attitudes, and how we socialize with people. The most crucial is abusing
people close to us or even not—furthermore, preventing the cases of drug usage in our community by
educating people of the consequences of using drugs and the effect of making healthy choices.

As I observed, a variety of circumstances can cause teen drug use and misuse. Alcohol and cigarettes,
which are freely accessible, are frequently used for the first time in social settings. There are some
instances that the usage of drugs is about insecurities or a desire for social acceptance that they can't think
about the outcomes of their action, leading them to more dangerous risks because of drugs. As a youth,
our contribution to the fight against drug abuse is research about the consequences of using drugs in our
mind, body, or even how we socialize with others. It can also help when we know a person that tends to
use drugs, and we must emphasize to them how drug use can affect the things that are important to them.

We are providing support to the people who are important to us since a person may be dealing with a
serious problem like a family history of substance abuse, depression, anxiety, mental health condition,
traumatic events, social rejection, or low self-esteem and can be a cause for them to intake drugs. The only
role that we can do is warn them of why it is not essential to use drugs when things get rough. Being with
them and listening sincerely is enough to help them ease their problem as sometimes they need the moral
support of the people they love.
