SUBJECT: OPTIONAL LED REPLACEMENT ICE DETECTION

LIGHT

REASON FOR REVISION: SSL 496A adds PA-46R-350T Matrix model.

PURPOSE: This service spares letter announces the availability of LED ice detection lights
that are optional replacements for the existing incandescent ice detection lights
on the affected airplanes.

MATERIAL REQUIRED: For PA-46-500TP Meridian/M500 – an LED ice detection light, Piper part number
(P/N) 652-018, shown in Figure 1, replaces the existing incandescent light bulb
used for ice detection.

For PA-46-350P Mirage/M350 and PA-46R-350T Matrix – the first-time

installation of a replacement LED ice detection light requires the Wing Ice Light –
Assembly, Piper P/N 84579-004, shown in Figure 1, which replaces the existing
incandescent ice detection light assembly (P/N 84579-002).
NOTE: When removing the incandescent light assembly, retain and reuse
Shim, P/N 83979-002.
On PA-46-350P and PA-46R-350T models, to replace the LED light after the initial
assembly installation, order only the LED Ice Detection Light, Piper P/N 572-688
(identified in Figure 1).

AVAILABILITY OF PARTS: Your Piper Approved Service Center.

SUMMARY: The existing incandescent ice detection light may be replaced by a more efficient
and longer lasting LED light.
