Assignment/Activity 3 & 4

Answer the following briefly of at least 5 sentences each.

A. What are the attributes of a human act?

1. What is the difference between intrinsic and extrinsic evil.

- Intrinsically evil when is wrongfulness is part of the nature of such act. Extrinsically
evil when its wrongfulness comes from an outside factor. The act of alms giving though
good in itself is extrinsically evil when it is done for purposes of building one's public
image. This indicates that actions which are themselves good or neutral may become
evil due to external factors, whether this be the motive of the person or the
circumstances of the act. Intrinsic evil is invoked to describe certain kinds of human
acts that can never be morally justified or permitted, regardless of the intention of the
person who performs them or any circumstances within which they take place.

2. Give an example of conditionally voluntary act.

- You want to attend your best friend's debut party tomorrow night. However, your
parents forbade you to go unless you finish all your household chores. Because you
want to go to the party so bad, you opted to finish the chores. The condition was to
finish your chores. But the act is technically voluntary because you chose to do it.

3. Give an example of perfect voluntary act.

- When you give free food to poor people. You voluntarily do it without second guessing
or without forcing yourself to do it. This act pertains to perfect voluntary act, which
people are not forced to do things in a situation. In addition, you are free to do
whatever you want unless it doesn’t feel you that you are being force.

4. Give an example of an imperfectly voluntary act.

- Your teacher wants you to share a story regarding your anxiety but you don't want to
recall it. However it is part of the recitation and it will be graded. In this situation, a
person is being forced to do things that he don't want to do. He is not free to do it or
someone is giving you an order that you really don't want to do.
B.

1. Should a drunken man be made accountable if he were to accidentally burn a

house? Elaborate your answer.
- Of course yes. Let’s say that he did that unconsciously or because he is not
in his state. But later on, he should be enlightened on what he did when he
was drunk and so that he will face the trouble he made. I also believed that
people; not only men but also women, should drink responsibly so they
wouldn’t cause any trouble whenever they’re not in their state.

2. What moral principle is involved when a car driver who is involved in an

accident is charged with reckless imprudence causing damage to property?

- In this situation the moral principle includes justice. First I think it is not
intentional because it’s an accident and no one wants an accident to be happen.

3. From the Reading, why is it important to cultivate moral sensibility?

- Like what they said, moral sensibility pertains to person’s “delicadeza” it is how
people would feel ashamed on their mistakes or sins. It is important to maintain or
develop this kind of characteristic because it’s important as a human being. For us
not to be arrogant.
