It is my pleasure to write a Letter of Reference for Lucas Costa. Lucas approached
York Lions
me about working as a Co-Op student for the Men's Hockey programme at York
Men’s Hockey
during his grade 11 year (2019-2020) and we quickly expanded his role to work with

both the Men's and Women's programmes.

CANADA We threw a variety of tasks a Lucas and he eagerly tackled them in an efficient
M3J 1P3 manner. We could always trust Lucas to get his work done whether I am present or
T 416 577 3043 not. Lucas asked strong questions and is interested in finding out why we were
russherr@yorku.ca doing these tasks and how they were assisting our teams. Lucas was always well
www.yorkulions.ca prepared and on top of what he needed to complete the tasks he was given. Lucas
quickly fit in well with both myself and Dan Church (the Head Coach of the women’s
team). He came with a smile every day and ready to help in whatever manner we
needed. Lucas was not afraid to ask for help and guidance. He was conscientious
about the quality of work he was producing and looking for feedback.

It was a pleasure having Lucas work with us for the year. He has a sharp and
inquisitive mind which helped him ask pertinent questions and made me reflect on
some of the areas I was or was not investing my own time. I was impressed that
Lucas took an expanded interest in how both the Men's and Women's teams at York
were doing that season. His biggest strengths included his responsibility, attention
to detail, his punctuality and ability to work unsupervised. I truly hope that Lucas
enjoyed his placement as much as I did. I really appreciated all he did but more
importantly how hard he worked to complete the tasks I asked of him and the
attitude with which he approached every day.

I believe that he will be a very successful student at University. He has a clear

picture of what he wants to achieve and from my interaction with him, has the work
ethic to give himself the opportunity to make that a reality. I would welcome Lucas
back to our programme at any time.
