A WORD FROM THE TEAM
Dear BDS Members,
Namaskaram.
We extend our sincere thanks to you for
providing an overwhelming response to
previous edition of Outreach round up, we
are truly humbled, and this certainly helps
us to stay on course.
There is an inspiring quote from Mahatma
Gandhi which goes as “The best way to
find yourself is to lose yourself in the
service of others”. This quote is
significant in the context of this month’s
round up where we start with an article on
Sri Balambika Ayur HealthCare, and the
progress made over the last few weeks.
As you are aware, Ayur clinic is nestled in
the pristine environment of Sri Balambika
Temple, sometimes it feels as though this
clinic is a small baby that is nestled in its
mother’s womb and is being nurtured with
care by our divine mother. There couldn’t
be a perfect place for such a noble service.
Be it a kid with skin problems, adolescent

with digestive issues, a middle-aged person with
thyroid and diabetic problem, an old age person
with knee / joint pain, all of them received good
care with our beloved practitioner giving a good
ear to them on their problems. This was certainly
very endearing. Few even walked over to us and
appreciated BDS for providing free health care.
While this baby is still nestled tightly to its
mother, there is definitely hope with all your
support that one day it will stand on its own and
make its mother very proud.
We are also glad to announce that we will soon
be resuming our Breakfast Meal Program for
BDS adopted schools. In this edition we will also
cover about the next steps for Breakfast meal
program and our plans to expand Mask Drive to
rural schools.
We will also reminisce about one of our
memorable outreach programs conducted in the
past. We thank you for your continued support.

1. Balambika Ayur Health Care Clinic : It gives us immense

satisfaction that the purpose of this initiative has started seeing fruits.
There is good response from the locals and there is continuous stream of
patients every Saturday between 10:00 am to 1:30 pm.

Kudos to Dr Saranya for being so passionate about treating patients and giving
enough time for each of them. It is this approach of listening intently to their
problems and counselling them about the lifestyle changes in addition to
providing required medicines / treatment, has led to repeat patients and has
enabled spreading good word of mouth for the clinic.

• The primary objective of this initiative is to provide Free Ayurvedic
health care with Medicines & treatment to the people of Malur and its
nearby villages. To this effect, BDS will be taking up all expenses
towards consultation and treatment for the primary care.

• Please pledge your support for this noble cause and sponsor few
patients out of the 60+ patients (per month) estimated to take
treatment.

• Estimated cost of Consultation, Treatment and Medicine for each

patient comes to around Rs.500/- per month.

• Donors can sponsor for any number of patients for one month/three
months/Six months/Year.

2. Sport Sponsorship for Ajith Arumugam : During the

month of Nov 2021, BDS sponsored and distributed Protein supplements and dry
fruits for Ajith Arumugam.

BDS has been sponsoring for all his sports and academic needs. He is now
preparing fervently for junior nationals.

BDS Wishes Ajit Arumugam all the very best for his junior
national championship.

UPCOMING PROGRAMMES

1.Covid-19 Awareness Programmes –

With a new Covid variant (Omicron) becoming a possible
threat BDS has decided to focus Mask drive to Rural
schools where there is less awareness to use masks. This
drive is planned during Jan 1st week.

2. Breakfast Meal for BDS adopted Schools – From past few

years BDS has been providing for Breakfast meal to below adopted schools
in and around Malur for 305 underprivileged children.

• Neelakanta Agrahara Primary School - For 65 students 5 days a

week
• Hanumantha Nagar Primary School - For 20 students 5 days a
week
• MC Halli Higher Primary School – For 125 students 2 days a
week
• Kumbarpet Primary School – For 60 students 2 days a week

• Pemmadoddi Primary School - For 35 students 2 days a week.

This program was put on-hold due to pandemic. We are now restarting this program
from latter half of December onwards. Block Education officer, has in principle agreed
to let BDS restart the Breakfast Meal program, we are now awaiting formal letters
that confirm parents consent from the HM of each school.

 A PEEP INTO THE PAST

Ground to Bench Program – 2020

• As part of Balambika Divya Sangam Outreach Programs, we embarked upon a

campaign to provide minimal infrastructure for schools in remote areas.

• During our interaction, we had observed that a few schools at Malur and
surrounding areas lacked the basic infrastructure such as study desks for
students.

• Children use the floor both to sit and as a desk which was leading to discomfort,
bad handwriting and unhealthy practices.

In consultation with the schools, BDS started a “Ground to Bench” program. Through
the program BDS donated 40 Study Desks of varied sizes across 3 Government schools.

Total cost of the study desks (including transportation costs, display materials and
GST) came to Rs 3,51,475 /-

Feedback and responses from all the 3 schools were really heartwarming, they were
quite happy that their students were getting the best facilities.
