SNBS Annual Report 2020-21

ABOUT SNBS
Shri Niroti Lal Buddha Sansthan, a Non-Government Organization,
formed in the year 1994, was brought into existence keeping in mind one
major societal goal, that is the upliftment of underprivileged and ensuring
all-round development and welfare of the society. We aim to improve their
standing by integrating them with other sections of society. The
organization also seeks to improve the economic and social condition of
those in need, along with the provision of free education and health care
facilities for better opportunities in the future. Shri Niroti Lal Buddha
Sansthan was registered under the Society Act, 1860 in 1994. Our primary
area of focus is to provide clean drinking water, spread awareness about
HIV/AIDS, maintenance of proper health and hygiene, conducting
sanitation drives and ensuring welfare of children by targeting the
illiteracy among people in the society. We also keep in our purview the
need for family planning and strive to generate awareness about the same.
Women and children have been the primary focus of our organization and
we have been working towards the advancement of marginalized sections
of society through various development programs for over 27 years.

VISION
We, at SNBS, believe in bringing together innovation and development
and utilizing them as a means to achieve our goal, which is, to create a
society free of discrimination, infused with love and respect for all the
sections, including women as well as the marginalized community. We

hope to play our part well as a catalyst in expediting this huge change in
society.

OBJECTIVE
We are on a mission to bring significant change to society. In order to
achieve our goal, we plan to serve the underprivileged and backward
sections of our society by enhancing their abilities and making them
capable enough to grab all the opportunities with newfound potential. We
also aim to do so by making contributions to the development and easy
access of education and health care facilities. We pursue our mission with
both excellence and compassion because the people we serve deserve
nothing less.

Saving Pregnant Women from Covid -19

Maternal and Child health services were first organized in India in 1921
“The Lady Chelmsford league” committee, which collected funds for child
welfare and established demonstration
services on an all-India basis. The
primary aim of maternal and child health
care is, to achieve at the end of
pregnancy, a healthy mother and a healthy
baby. MCH services are essential as they are associated with the all-
encompassing development of mother and child. Inspired by them, SNBS
has been working with the ICDS Department for the past 19 years and

3

with the Health Department for 27 years. Our SNBS team started working
in collaboration with ANM, ASHA, and AWW to provide a balanced diet
to children and pregnant women in order to reduce the Mother and Infant
Mortality Rate of the country.
Objectives of the MCH that our organization has learned from and aims to
incorporate include survival of children by providing them adequate meals
and education; promoting reproductive health and safe motherhood;
ensuring the birth of a healthy child; prevention of malnutrition; early
diagnosis and treatment of health problems; promotion of physical and
psychological development of adolescent girls; creating awareness among
girls and women about menstrual hygiene.

INITIATIVES
Door to door distribution of multi-vitamins to pregnant women during
a lockdown:
According to the World Health Organization, COVID-19 is also a great
risk to the elderly and pregnant women. During pregnancy, the body
undergoes various changes. The immune system is negatively affected,
putting women at a greater risk of
getting infected by the virus.
Compared to other women,
infections and viruses are more
lethal to those expecting a child.
We at SNBS request support from
the young and active social workers and enthusiasts in protecting
parturient women from the outbreak of this lethal COVID-19 virus. Our

4

organization has worked day and night

to provide, free of charge, the world's
best multivitamins imported from
Vitamin Angels in the United States to
as many expecting women- living in and
around the city- as we possibly could
with all our capital and human resources.
We further request our ardent supporters and readers to encourage enceinte
women living around them to take one multivitamin tablet daily. It will
help boost their immunity each passing day. Thus, increasing their
capability to fight off infections.
We would also like to bring to everyone‟s notice that if for any reason an
expecting woman failed to receive a bottle of multivitamins or was unable
to arrange one for themselves, they need not think twice before contacting
our organization. We will make sure that we make them available,
absolutely free of cost. With this small initiative, we make sure that the
society that comes along with and after women is also protected.
Everything is different this year because of COVID-19. Hundreds of
people have lost their lives due to the deteriorating economic condition.
They face financial constraints even in arranging daily needs for their
families. This has greatly affected their ability to fight the disease.

During the lockdown, we created a call

centre for parturient women. They
could call us at our SNBS office any
time of the day to get multivitamin

5

tablets. We made sure to provide door-to-door delivery of multivitamins

for 6 months to more than 1000 such women.

Covid – 19 Awareness Program:

Our organization conducted a COVID-19 awareness program, in which we
organized 16 camps that were attended by more than 2000 people. All the
guidelines prescribed by the Government of India were followed by the
team. We spread awareness among the people about the need for masks,
hand-washing, and physical distancing, which is an absolute necessity in
critical times like this. We also sensitized them about the need for a
balanced and nutritious diet to help
build their immunity. In these difficult
times, society needs to come together
and help each other. Social programs
like these, help instil a sense of
community and belongingness, which

has become essential after months of lockdown where people experienced

solitude and fear. We also distributed Multivitamins to improve immunity.

Menstrual Health and Awareness Day Camp

Leaders and warriors bleed. Period. We
are elated to share with everyone a few
glimpses of the event we organized
commemorating the Menstrual Health
and Awareness Day also known as
Happy Period Day at Gari Bhadhoriya,
Agra on 05.02.2021.

Dr. Renu Agarwal (Prof. S.N. Medical College, Agra) was our guest of
Honor whose thoughtful insight on the importance of Menstrual Hygiene
was worth applauding.

The event was also graced by the kind presence of Payal Garg (Secretary,
Lions Club Khushboo) and Anjali Agarwal (President, Lions Club
Khushboo).
Ms. Shivani Pandey, Ms. Jyoti Verma, and Ms. Tanu Saxena also helped
us in making the event a huge success. We are grateful to these strong
women for helping us in our initiative and making it a success.
We at SNBS proudly wish you all a very Happy Periods Day.

Event Report: Menstrual Health and Awareness Day Celebration

Shri Nirotilal Buddha Sansthan proudly presents its report on the
successful completion of a day-long Health camp organized to celebrate
Period‟s Day on 5th February 2021.

SNBS Annual Report 2020-21

Executive Summary
The event began with the registration and welcoming of our enthusiastic
audience. We drew a red circle on the right hand of our attendees
symbolizing Women‟s Strength. We organized a Slogan Writing
Competition with the theme „AAO SOCH BADLE‟. About 20 girls who
indeed seemed excited to take part in it gave a very thoughtful insight into
the subject with their quotes. Dr. Renu Agarwal put some really heedful
messages on the topic of Menstrual Health and soon her speech became an
interactive session where she humbly responded to all the questions these
young girls had regarding menstruation. Later, Ms. Payal Garg and Anjali
Agarwal joined us, and their delightful presence gave a boost to the show.
The winners of the Slogan Writing Competition were announced and
prizes were given away to all the
participants by Ms. Payal Garg
and Ms. Anjali Agarwal. One of
our teammates, Ms. Shivani
Pandey then gave a mindful
presentation on the Importance of
Menstrual Hygiene. The girls
keenly attended this session as well. The event came to an end with the
distribution of refreshments to all the attendees.

Purpose and Scope

The core idea behind organizing such an event was to enlighten the young
girls, who lack access to a healthy lifestyle, and are unaware of one of the
most basic aspects of a woman‟s life, i.e., measures to maintain menstrual
hygiene. We at SNBS always believe that women and children are the
building blocks of society. Therefore, we always try to aware of about
their health and rights related thereto.
Location
The event was organized at the Buddha Vihar Centre, Gari Bhadhauriya,
Pratap Nagar, Jaipur House, Agra.
This area is marked as the residence
of hundreds of underprivileged
people who lack even the basic
amenities of life. About 150 girls
from the same locality were our
enthusiastic audience.
Financial Information
A great sum of money was required
to be spent on the sanitary napkins, each packet of which was distributed
to all the attendees. Refreshments to the guests, team, and attendees also
need to be brought to notice.

Responsibility
Arrangements for seating had
already been done by the volunteers
from Gari Bhadauriya. Registration
was carried out under the
responsibility of our interns namely,
Ms. Jyoti Verma and Tanu Saxena.
Refreshments were arranged by one of the volunteers from that vicinity.
The last words on menstrual health and awareness were delivered by Ms.
Shivani Pandey with pictorial aid.
Operational Problems
Fortunately, we did not encounter any last moment hustle or problem.
Everything went smoothly.
Arrangement of Funds
The massive success of this event is owed to the unfettered support of the
Lions Club Khushboo. We are very thankful for their incredible stand for
such a noble cause. We really look forward to many such associations with
the Lion‟s Club Khushboo.
Such events need to be organized in other backward areas as well.
Lucrative takeaways need to be given to heighten the participation.

We extend our special thanks to:-

Lions Club of Agra “Khushboo” and Lions Club of Agra “Ideal”.
