OPERATION
Miter crosscuttingis the processof sawinga board at any
angleother than a 90o (square)cut. The 45o miter angleis
a popular one, since two boards cut to 45o can be
assembled to form a 90o cornerfor producinga squareor
rectangularframe. The radial arm is set to the desiredangle
of cut; yoke and bevelsettingsindexedat 0o (andlocked)
as in squarecrosscutting. The boardbeingcut is held firmly
againstthe fence (guide) and the carriagepulled forward
along the radial arm to perform the desiredcut. As in
"Operation
No. 1", the carriageshouldbe returnedto full
rear position and the saw blade allowed to come to a
completestop beforeremovingthe boardsfrom saw table.
OPERATIONNo. 3 - BEVELCROSSCUT
Bevelcrosscuttingis the processof sawingat 90o (sguare)
acrossthe board with the saw bladeset at an angleother
than 90o to the saw table. The radial arm and yoke are
indexedat 0o and locked, but the bevelis setto the desired

the carriagepulledforward alongthe radialarm to produce
the cut. The carriageshould be returnedto full rearward

Bevel ripping is either in-ripping or out-ripping as described
above, except the saw blade is tilted out of perpendicular to
the saw table surface. The radial arm is indexed at 0o and
locked, the bevel is set to the desired bevel angle and the
yoke is positioned for in-ripping (saw blade at rear) or
out-ripping (saw blade at front), as required. All
requirements and observations applicableto normal ripping
operations also apply to bevel ripping.
