Q.1. What do you mean by “unnecessary human suffering”?

Ans. It means bloodshed, killings and injuries inflicted on human beings during
the war.

Q.2. How Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) was destined to become a leader of


people?

Ans. Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) was destined to become a prophet and lead his
nation to a major socio-religious revolution, i.e. Islam.

Q.3. Write a note on “Harb-ul-Fijar”.

Ans. Harb-ul-Fijar means a sacrilegious war, broke out between the Quraish and
Hawazin tribes. The war was so called because it was fought during the sacred
months when fighting was forbidden.

Muhammad (pbuh) was fifteen years old, he accompanied his uncles but did not
take an active part in the war. He only collected the arrows thrown by the
enemy and handed them over to his uncles.
The tragic results of the war, bloodshed and the unnecessary human suffering
had a great impact on his character and his mild and peace loving temperament
must have developed a very strong and lasting dislike for war.

He got the military experience, which was important for him as he had to
become a leader of people through a major socio-religious revolution (Islam).

Ans. The object of forming the league “Half-ul-Fazul” was very noble i.e., to
maintain peace in the region, suppress any violence and injustice and to uphold
the rights of the weak, poor and destitute.

Ans. As a result of Harb-ul-Fijar, thousands of lives were lost. The leaders of


Makkah, formed a league called Half-ul-Fazul with the object of maintaining
peace in the region, suppressing any violence and injustice and for upholding
the rights of the weak, the poor and the destitute.

The alliance was called Al-Fazul after three of the main participant’s each of
whom was called Al-Fazal. It was made for noble cause, maintaining harmony.

The Hashmites along with other tribes assembled in the house of a noble
Quraish, Abdullah bin Judan and pledged to stand on the side of oppressed,
whether stranger or citizen, against the oppressor and to remove injustice from
the land.

Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) witnessed the meeting and was so impressed by its
noble objectives that he remained loyal to it. Later on he said, “I was present in
the house of Abdullah bin Judan at so excellent a pact that I would not exchange
my part in it for a herd of red camels; and if now in Islam, I were summoned
unto it, I would gladly respond.”

Q.1. Write briefly about the life of Hazrat Khadija.

Ans. Hazrat Khadija was a wealthy and respectable widow. She was the
daughter of Khuwalid, who was the great grandson of Qussai. She was forty
years old and twice widowed. She had two sons and a daughter from her
previous marriages. She has an exceptional character and was called “Tahira”,
the pious one.

Q.2. How did she get married to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)?

Ans. She requested Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) to take her merchandise to Syria
against a share in the profits. He returned from Syria with good profits. She was
so pleased that she herself made an offer of marriage to him. Abu Talib
accepted the proposal on behalf of Muhammad (pbuh) and they got married. At
that time, he was 25 and she was 40. The union proved successful. They had two
sons and four daughters. Both sons died in infancy. Of the daughters, only the
youngest, Hazrat Fatima survived till the death of Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh).

Q.3. When did Hazrat Khadija die?

Ans. Hazrat Khadija died at the age of 65, in the 10 th year of prophethood. She
was buried in Makkah.
