Prototypes are best seen as a representation of a final product. Prototype testing is an essential
part of the design process. It is critical to test your prototype and get early feedback on your work. A
product not reviewed by testers is destined to fail. The proposed design might look perfect but you
could be overlooking major problems in your product. You can prevent these unfortunate situations by
conducting tests as early as the prototyping stage. Prototype testing has many advantages, including
allowing you to launch a product with confidence, knowing that the concept works and has been tested
with actual users before release, and detecting and fixing significant usability problems early in the
design process.
Developers need feedback on how things are progressing during the design stage of every product. If
anything does not work out right away, it is possible to make improvements without wasting a lot of time
and resources. It's also crucial to ensure that the product is being used as planned. During the testing
phase, all of this can be decided. Overall costs can be minimized by catching errors early in the design
process. Errors can be expensive. If a product is released to the market without being adequately
reviewed, the costs incurred will easily outweigh the cost of the test. Each product is intended for a
particular audience. Manufactures think that it's nice to hear that from the audience when it comes to
what the target audience is looking for. That's exactly how the testing stage can be done. If the
experience of your customers with your product isn't perfect, sooner or later you get negative reviews.
You can prevent negative user interactions and reviews when launching your product by receiving
consumer feedback before you release it.
As I can remember, I have applied this concept in my life. I am one of the contestants in a
Promotional Video Contest in my school. I shot the videos and clips together with my classmate,
Roviner. As I got home, I immediately started doing the editing. I’ve finished putting the clips together,
and then I decided to export the initial video and sent it to my friends. They are not just friends in this
matter, there are like my testers, my critics, that time. I asked for their opinions on what should I change,
or what could I add to the video. And then I revised it, but it did not end there. I exported it again, and
sent it to my friends but this time with the addition of my teachers. I’ve gathered their helpful feedback.
They saw things that I did not even notice. They checked the grammars, the transitions, and the music.
It may be exhausting to revised everything over and over again, but in the end, it will all be worth it. I
can prove that because I, fortunately, won the contest. This shows how feedbacks from other people
can make a great difference not only in business but also in life. And of course, this feedbacks won’t
reach us without conducting the testing process. However, all must remember to take this feedbacks
positively and not as something that will degrade them. It is something that will help them and upgrade
them.
Usually, multiple users, investors, and stakeholders are involved in this testing phase. They are
people who are involved in the product's future success. They may take account of problems not
identified at this point by the design team. These insights produced during the test phase will contribute
to the product improvement before it comes to the market. Prototypes are a way to communicate with
stakeholders and organizations who will carry out the final product. Even as we try, it will never be so
successful to describe a concept with words as to share a prototype. It is possible to sit down with a
real version of the product and decide which elements are worthwhile and which pieces need to be
changed or eliminated by making a prototype. During this method, it is possible to discover
conspicuous omissions that were not apparent on paper. If you need to obtain financing, getting a
product that has been physically tested in the real world is an appealing aspect. Investors do not want
to spend money on a design that may or may not be viable once produced, so having a well-tested
design makes the project easier to sell. Same as ordinary people, we don’t want to buy or do something
that s not tested. It is better to be sure, but sometimes, we take risks and just go for it.
With the benefits and advantages of testing a prototype in a mind, along with other factors of
business building, it is almost a guarantee that the owner and the company will foster.
