Chapter#5: Internship Assessment and Recommendations


5.1 Assessment of Internship Experience
5.1.1 Major Responsibilities Undertaken During Internship:
The responsibilities undertaken during this internship period are to assist in daily tasks
on a ground handling and to learn the procedure that how to complete the given task step by step
according to the individual requirements.
As time goes by, my site supervisor gave me a big responsibility. The site supervisor allocated
me a Leader and gave me a responsibility to log all the tasks which we have done on daily basis,
maintain the record of completed tasks. I conduct myself responsibly and professionally.

5.1.2 Skills and Qualifications Acquired from Internship:


The internship is a learning experience in any field through which you will learn soft and hard
skills, educate professionally. During my internship period I learned these mentioned skills and
qualifications in the aviation industry:
• How to acquire data
• How to complete work on time
• Typing skills
• How to take responsibilities seriously
• Communication skills
• Passenger handling

5.1.3 Impact of Internship on Future Career Path of the Intern:


The internship is a platform to learn practical work besides theory. An internship is a basic step
towards a professional career. The experience you will get makes you more marketable as they
can handle more responsibilities. Internships can enhance students to become skilful people by
getting knowledge in any workplace.
In some cases, a company may decide to hire an intern at the end of the internship period. Even
if a job offer doesn’t happen right away, an intern who makes a good impression receives an
offer when an opening occurs. This is a procedure to test out an employee before hiring them.

5.1.4 Overall Comparison between Theory and Practice


Practice refers to the actual observation, operation, and experiment. Practice is the
observation of disparate concepts that need explanation. A theory is a proposed explanation
of the relationship between two or more concepts, or an explanation for how and why a
phenomenon occurs.
When the task assigned me during my internship process, first I read instructions Manual that
how to do the task with a procedure which is a theoretical part. After that, I implement the
procedure to complete the task which is in practice or practical work. Then I, inspect and
make observations that I observe during the task.

5.1.5 General Observations about the Sector of the Internship


I observe a lot of things about the sector of the internship during my internship period that all
the instructors, supervisors, manager are very professional in their careers. I learned a lot of
things by working with them I find out my strengths and weaknesses. All personnel is very
talented in their work, well managed.
The site supervisor ensured that everyone must be involved in the following given task,
which increases the efficiency of the work done by the organization as the satisfaction of
individuals would rise greatly.

5.2 Internship Recommendation


5.2.1:Recommendations for the Hybrid Aviation
Here are some recommendations for the Shaheen Airport Services for the internship
program:
• They need to design a well-structured and fully organized internship program.
• Develop a well-furnished training classroom with a projector for interns.
• They need to offers the job opportunity, if the interns meet the requirement for the
position.
• Give allowances to the interns most especially transport allowances.

5.2.2: Recommendations for Future Interns and Department


I will recommend some guidelines for department and future interns that if they work in any
sector as an intern these recommendations must be noticed during their period.
Recommendations for the department as well that what they need to work:
• University department have to create internship opportunities for their students.
• Department can contract directly to any field sector or organization that we will provide
the maximum amount of interns to the organization.
• By making internship opportunities, student’s workload for getting internships will be
reduced.
• If someone asks you to do this task and you are not sure that how to do it, then don’t be
afraid to ask for help.
• Make a good relationship with everyone in the sector & don’t be late, it will make a bad
impression on you.
• Take advice from the workers working around you, always be willing to learn.
• If you have done your work wrong, must tell to your supervisor.
