1. Ensure that the equipment meets the area classification and specification requirements
2. Ensure that the enclosure IP rating meets the specification requirements
3. Location as per design drawings
4. Ensure the mechanical integrity of all components
5. Without dismantling, check oil rings and level and grease packing and bearings
6. Inspect the paint finish for any damage. Any damage areas shall be repainted
7. Equipment undamaged
8. Power supplying cable for motor associated to VSD systems are overall screened with screen
earthed
9. All fuse links / MCB’s / protection devices are of correct rating are suitable for area
10. Isolators / switch / push button mechanical operation satisfactory
11. Equipment lids are fitted properly
12. Warning lamps covers are of the correct colour
13. The motor control station is correctly installed and control cable connected
14. The motor functional unit, guards and protective relays have been checked and tested and all
relevant certificates issued
15. Ensure that all vibration and temperature monitoring equipment are properly installed
16. Ensure that internal are free from dust, debris, etc
17. Ensure that gaskets and seals are correctly installed and are in good condition
18. Check that all factory checks and tests have been completed as per specification requirements
19. All mounting bolts used and tightened

20. Bearing lubrication satisfactory

insulation resistance measured (IR = Megaohm)
26. If special motor protection devices (thermocouples) have been fitted, test their circuit
continuity and insulation resistance
27. Ensure that starter cubicle has been tested in accordance with relevant procedures (Switchgear)
28. Earthing of motor done and connected to main grounding system, including those in terminal
box
29. Where applicable, remove earth strap on drive end of motor and measure non-drive end
pedestal bearing insulation. If satisfactory, refit drive end earth strap
30. Ensure that torque of motor terminations conforms to supplier’s specifications
31. Start the motor to determine the direction of rotation and compare this with the required
direction of rotation of the driven unit
32. Run the motor for about 30 minutes and check the bearings for undue temperature rise. Check
for vibration. Tabulate results after 30 min. to confirm temperature stabilizes. On DC motors
check for armaturesparking (if fitted)
33. Measure and record the line current of the free running motor (at no load)
34. Cooling water system checked where applicable
35. Manual rotation of motor checked with coupling bolts removed
36. Ensure that all cables have been certified in accordance with the cable test procedures
37. Insulation resistance check for panel bus bar each phase to earth checked, if applicable
38. Cable core connections correct and identified, phase sequence and polarity are correct
39. Cable terminations satisfactory
40. Cables identified correctly
41. All covers fastened
42. Insulation resistance test of motor windings completed

44. Main auxiliary terminal boxes are clean, dry, in good condition and correctly gasketed with
fixing screws / bolts tightened
45. Purge system & associated controls for EX (P) motors wherever applicable
