My karate weekends
I take after my father in my love of sports. He and I would always get together on weekends to
play soccer or baseball. However, as time passed by, I was getting more and more sedentary.
Eventually, my clothes didn’t fit me anymore and that was it! I decided to take up some sport.
And I chose a form of martial art: karate. I signed up for classes at our local sports center. I took
to it right away and by the end of the first class I was hooked. It’s been three years now and I
currently work there as a voluntary instructor. And what’s more: they needed someone to take
over from the man who was my very first teacher, who had left the center to get started on his
own new gym. I am very thankful to him! Karate has become my life and it takes up all my free
time. I still manage to go to work at the bank every day, but – boy! – how I seek my karate
weekends!
