一、 Main specification

二、Working Principle
(一)、Structure
The grab is composed by: 1.Grab Head
2.Transverse Frame 3.Through Beam 4.Press
Rods 5.Scoops 6.Control Valve Group 7.Cylinders
8.Steel Wire Rope and so on. (Refer to Pic.1-1)
2 . The through beam is connected to the cylinder barrels, and the transverse frame is connected to
3 . The steel wire ropes lift the transverse frame and are installed symmetrically; to increase the grab
closing force via pulleys on the grab head and transverse frame.
4 . The balancing stand on the transverse frame bear the lifting capacity of the grab, and for avoiding
the excessive force to single rope, the two steel ropes adjust mutually.
5 . The through beam is a box structure, wholly sealed oil tank in the middle of it, and the control
valve group is installed on the cover plate of the oil tank.
Grab Closing: When grab opens, the transverse frame is connected with the grab head but totally
separated with the through beam. Solenoid directional valve is closed at this moment. The piston rod of
the cylinder is connected with the transverse frame, and the cylinder barrels are firmly jointed with the
through beam, so the piston rod of the cylinder is fully extended at this moment. When the grab is
loading the bulk materials, steel wire rope of the crane falls and the piston rods draw back for it can

move in one-way direction , and then the transverse frame falls. After the piston rods draw back
completely, and the transverse frame falls. After that the steel wire rope of the crane rises, and the
transverse frame rises with it. As the solenoid valve of the cylinders is always closed, at this moment,
the rod cavity & the cylinders are locked. With the pulleys, the transverse frame's rising drives through
beam to rise, at the same time, the scoops close.
Grab Opening: When opening the grab, press the button of the remote control to open the solenoid
directional valve of the cylinder, which makes the rod cavity offloads. Piston rod of the cylinder is pulled
out by the transverse frame and through beam, and the transverse frame is separated from the through
beam, so the grab opens.
b. The opening grab is put on the bulk materials by the crane; loose the steel wire rope, the piston rod of
the cylinder falls with the gravity of the transverse frame. The piston falls, at this moment, the hydraulic
oil in the down space of the cylinder goes into the upper space via one-way valve on the piston.The
redundant oil is pressed back to the oil tank.

c. When the piston falls to the bottom of the cylinder, the hydraulic oil in the down space of the
cylinder flows back to the oil tank via hose pipes, while the hydraulic oil in the upper space of the
cylinder is connected to the solenoid valve and change cartridge valve via hose pipes, and the solenoid
valve still locks.
d. Lift the steel wire rope, which drives the transverse frame to lift the through beam. The lifting
force of the crane is transmitted to the grab head & piston via steel wire rope. The hydraulic oil cannot

flow out for the hydraulic oil in the upper space of cylinder is locked, so the oil pressure is produced,
which makes the oil cylinder and through beam go up together, the scoops close and is lifted c/w the
steel wire rope. At this moment, the grab loads the materials and is lifted.
e. After the grab loads and is lifted to the destination via the crane. The operator press the button of
the remote control, the transverse frame c/w the piston rod of the cylinder stand up to the grab head via
the crane, and the through beam falls via the dead weight & pressure in the upper cavity of the oil
cylinder releases. At this moment, the grab opens and unloads the materials.
The pressure oil reaches to the solenoid directional valve & change cartridge valve at the same time.
For the solenoid directional valve reverses by having electricity, the pressure oil on the spool of the
change cartridge valve is released, the spool of the change cartridge valve goes up, then the change
cartridge valve is opened. All the pressure oil in the cylinder flows back to the oil tank via hose pipes &
change cartridge valve.
When the oil returns in the upper cavity of the cylinder, the down cavity is vacuum, for the function
of the air pressure & hydraulic oil in the tank, the oil in the tank flows into the one-way valve of the
pipeline via the filter device, and finally arrives at the down cavity of the cylinder, the piston rod extends,
finish the grab opening.
三、Operation Rules
(1).When use the grab, the safety operation rules of the crane must be followed
(2).Wedge sets/Rope cramp should be checked before use, and their installation should be according
to the technical requirements, if loose, please fasten in time. If the shackles deform, wedge sets crack,
screws of the rope cramp damage, they should be changed.
(3).Empty grab test should be carried on--all the turning parts should be flexible, grabs' opening &
closing should be accurate and smooth.
(4).To avoid damages to the grab, hit the materials/cranes/ship rails... in high speed is not allowed.
(5).The balancing stand on the transverse frame should turn smoothly, and the steel wire rope should

四、Operation Requirements
(1).Remote control grab is apply to loading & unloading bulk materials on the cranes with single lifting
mechanism.
(2). To avoid overload, the volume can be changeable via the spill plates according to the density of
different materials. To avoid overload caused by failed flow of the materials, the remote control grab with
spill plates is not suitable for loading & unloading sticky bulk materials.
(3). The storage batteries should be full. To guarantee the enough working time, the batteries should
be recharged again if the full batteries are not used in three months.
(4).Put the batteries into the batteries bin of the grab, tighten the fasteners and cover the bin gate,
plug in the socket and turn on the power switch, after about one minute, the electric control system begin
working.
(5).The grab works according to the hydraulic schematic (a→b→c→d→e→a).
(6).After working, the cylinders should extend completely, and please turn off the power, and keep the
remote control well.
Remarks:
When turning off the power,the cylinders are in the state of locking!!!
The power should be turned off after the cylinders extend completely and the
locater pin of transverse frame inserts the hole of through beam!!!

2. Technical Requirements
The electrical control system adopt way of remote control, remote control distance should not
less than 50 meters, the signals' emission and receive should be reliable and suitable for various
severe environment, working temperature:-10℃~55℃.
Batteries (voltage 24V)
Solenoid Valve (voltage 24V)
Notes: Check all the electrical joints before operation, if confirmed, turn off the power switch, then
turn on the power control switch.
3. Way of Control
Way of Control: button remote control
Button remote control grab
As show in the pictures, the red part on the back of the remote control is the master switch,↑ is on,
and ↓ is off. The red/green indicator lights are for switch and weak power. If the two lights is flickering
ceaselessly, please change the batteries.
When use the grab:
First, turn on the red switch, the remote controls is on, and then use the first and second black
buttons to operate. The first button is inching button, press it without loosing, the grab is opening
ceaselessly,loose it, the grab stop opening. The second button is continuous button, first press, the grab
is opening ceaselessly, second press, the grab stop opening. The two last buttons are spare buttons, if
the first and the second button donor work any more, you can use the two last buttons after circuit
change.

c. battery charging
The storage battery charging not charged in time, charging not enough, over-charging will be a lot
of damage for the battery life. So it is prohibited to storage the battery in long time under the without
power condition, charging in time after discharge and it need charging more timely with the deeper
discharge. not use storage battery more than a week please charging for the battery and not use time
more than 2 months must charging with full charge. Another do not use it under the battery in poor
condition.
When charging, connect the accumulator with the charger, turn on the electrical source (the input
voltage must be consistent with the nameplate range, otherwise the charger couldn’t’t be turned on), the
charger can automatically check extant quantity of electricity and ambient temperature of the
accumulator.
Also, it can charge according to the different discharging quantity of electricity of the accumulator.
The charger is automatically turned off when the accumulator is fully charged. No matter the reverse
polarity or the short circuit and the open circuit of the accumulator, there will be no current output, which
can prevent the worker from incorrect operations. Do not need have staff on duty.
Notes: After the grab finished d work, each group storage battery must been charge, when long
time not use, the battery must be placed in dry cool place. The storage battery power will slowly
decrease in the use or hold process until no power. This will seriously weakened the life of the
battery .To avoid such situation ,we set up a protection measures i circuit, when the battery power is
lower than a certain value, power protection device will cut off the circuit, the battery no longer have the
power output. If the grab suddenly couldn't action in the process of grab use, it is may be the power are
not enough, need to recharge. If the grab produce severe impact or vibration in the process use, this put
a high requirements for the electrical line connection, especially for the battery group, it need often
remove and installation. The connection of the contacts we choose the waterproof flexible seal joint,
both safe and reliable and convenient save trouble.
3. Remote control
Grab electric control system using wireless remote control ways, control distance is not less than 50

meters, signal transmission and reception should be reliable ,is suitable for field port area,etc all kinds of
environments, environmental work from -10 ℃ temperature to 55 ℃.
The remote control is making up emitter and sign receiver.

(三)、Operation guidance
1. Grab preparation
a. Replace the charged up electric battery, let the plug on the receiver link to the battery case as
the picture shown:

Twist the spiral cover, will see four holes wiring socket
Make the receiver plug inserted into the four hole electrical outlet, twist the tap and fixed the screw,
the receiver get electricity.
b. Before work ,check all of the electric joint, after confirmed, closed the power switch, turn on the
power control switch.
When need to open the grab, press the remote control emitter button, this time the signal receiver
receive the signal, battery valve get electric ,oil cylinder been unlocked ,grab open with the oil cylinder
piston rod reach out.

Press the "open" button, solenoid valve get electricity, oil cylinder unlocked and grab open, loose
the button and solenoid valve no electricity, the oil cylinder was locked, the grab stop to open.
Press the "keep open" button, solenoid valve continues electricity, grab continues open until up to
the maximum. If this time need to close the grab ,click to the "keep open” button again, solenoid valve no
electricity, oil cylinder was locked.
b. grab close
Put the open grab to the bulk cargo, hosting the grab and make sure the solenoid valve power turn
off, hosting the grab, grab closed.
3. Emergency treatment
When the grab's electrical system or the remote control system have malfunction,or based on repair,
we can use a 6mm hard shaped object to top the solenoid valve forced open the switch.

Compel open up
When operation, if discovery the remote transmitters failure or lost carelessly which may caused the
grab not open, this time we can adopt manually way let the grab open.
1.Grab landed, start the manual directional control valves, forced the solenoid valve and main valve
core separate, unlocked the oil cylinder, hosting the grab, oil cylinder piston rod reach out, grab open.
2.The manual directional control can be set to become a leash control, forced the electromagnetic
valve part from the main valve core, grab open in the air.

(一)、Grab Maintenance
1. Lubricating points:
All of the hinge joints of grab need to be lubricated, including stay bar joint, bucket slewing joint,
chock slewing joint (excluding fixed chock). Besides, so do the slewing joints of guide rope device and
sheaves.
2. Lubricating requirements:
- Add appropriate grease once before work every time
- Add appropriate grease once at least after working 24 hours continuously.
- Add appropriate grease once after work.
- Add appropriate grease once at least after working a week.
- The time span of lubricating depends on the type of bulk cargo.
Recommended lubricating grease:
Lithium-radicel specification grease, DIN 51825-KTAL2K
Viscidity lubricating grease (wire rope). DIN 51513-BC.
(二)、Grab repair
1. Check Wire rope
Check the rope and fixed component at least once a week, replace it when there is any
flexion ,flatten, knot ,serious corrosion, attrition wear,
The wire rope must be replaced if there are 30 visible damage spots lying in the range of 0-30 times
diameters, or 60 visible damage spots lying in the range of 0-60 times diameters.

Regular inspect the quick-wear part (Wire rope entrance, guide pulley, pulley) prevent blocking,
when serious wear down, replace it
3. Replace hydraulic oil
In the first time, replace the hydraulic oil after worked 1000hours,then every 3000hours replace a
time.
When replace the oil, Keep the grab should be closed state, First, put the container at the bottom of
down beam, open the bottom cover of oil tank and the bolt. the hydraulic oil release out.
Inject the oil from the oil cleaner to the tank, loose the dipstick pedestal first, clean the tiny Impurities by
the oil filter which is 10 μ m precision. after that, keep the grab in no-load and open condition,
Repetitive move the transverse frame up and down at least 10 cycle, in order to release the air in the oil
tank and pipe completely.then,replenish oil until reach to the oil level gauge's middle line
The hydraulic oil can be used with ISO VG 46 viscosity wear additives (EP-additive) hydraulic oil. The oil
temperature range-10 ℃ 80 ℃ to + later (with DIN 51524/2, H-LP 46).
The below are some applicable oils, and can also according to the above standard choose other
oils.
in the condition of below 0 ℃ ,High stick index hydraulic oil should be adopted, this hydraulic oil
contained antiwear additive(EP),with good viscosity condition
7. Check cylinder
Check if there is any loose on the collection of cylinder, fasten it .
Check the cylinder prevents oil leaking. in the leaking condition, check the cylinder's sealing
element, replace it when necessary.
Check the piston rod, if there is any damage, replace it if necessary
8. Grab’s dismantle
Keep the piston rod completely withdraw, when dismantling
Keep the grab closed, when dismantle the grab body
9. Welding
Most of GBM material is chose. We recommend heat the material as follow:
in the following condition the material should be preheat
- the hardness rise as the welding temperature
- high-thermal conductivity material
- the material which easy got hydrogen attack
Accor dancing the different material, choose the proper preheat temperature, show as follow .

First, check the battery, if it has enough power, check the emitter(press the red shift knob)if the power
indicator light, open the battery tank,check all the wire and plug, clear the open circuit fault.if all are in
normal, open the hatch cover on the grab's middle bean .and press the emitter, if the light of batter valve
don't work on, move the old batter valve plug and change a new one. Otherwise, the light of batter valve
goes on, that shows may be some blocking appears in the battery valve, so clean the battery valve.
Remark
1. The grab fall into disuse more than 3months may be charged properly
2.Don't charged The battery in the sun place, it is better in a Ventilated good environment proceed.
3.The battery box is banned removed
4.when the grab disuse for a long time, check the emitter and the remote control system whether in
normal condition
