Tank design
Tanks are designed to the proven UL listed tanks as used in the USA. Although approved per CE standards for use in
Middle East and Europe, the tank will comply to the strict UL standards as applied in USA. The tanks will be supplied with
a steel outer jacket and wall hung bracket.

Tank lining
The tanks are protected against corrosion by use of a new formula of superior, cobalt enhanced glass supplied from our own
glass manufacturing plant in Florence, Kentucky.
This glass is fused to the steel of the strong pressure vessel, ensuring a long and trouble free tank life.

Magnesium Anode
For additional protection against the corrosive working of hot water, pure magnesium sacrificial anodes are mounted in the tank.

Tank insulation
The tank is insulated with 2 cm of the latest formula of CFC free foam. On top of the tank, the hottest part and therefore liable to
most heat loss, the insulation is even 4 cm to reduce costly heat losses to an absolute minimum.

Working pressure/ test pressure

The tanks are tested to 12 bar hydrostatic pressure.
The rated working pressure per CE standards is 8 bar. A combined pressure relieve/non-return safety valve is included with the
water heater. Models sold in Saudi Arabia comply to the SASO standard. For Saudi Arabia the ratings are amended as follows:
- Maximum working pressure rated at 6 bar
- Inlet valve pressure rated at 7 bar
- Security valve pressure rated at 8 bar

Flange
All major parts are conveniently mounted on a removable flange, ensuring easy cleaning and servicing of the water heater if and
when required.
On the flange are mounted:
- the electric element
- the thermostat immersion well
- the magnesium anode

Power supply
All models are designed to operate on a power supply ranging from 220 to 240 Volt single phase, 50/60 Hz.
ELECTRIC WATER HEATERS
Electric elements
The elements are commercial grade incoloy, low watt density elements, suitable for use in hard water areas. Elements are
available in 1200 Watts (50 and 80 liters) or 1500 Watts (100 liters model).

Thermostat
Quick responding immersion control thermostat, temperature setting from 45 to 75 °C. A high limit thermostat is build in to
cut of power supply to the elements in case of overheating.

Copper cold water inlet pipe diffuser

The high quality copper inlet pipe diffuser bends incoming cold-water flow to circulate over the bottom of the tank to prevent
early mixing of cold and hot water. In this way the maximum availability of usable hot water from the tank is ensured.

Copper upstanding hot water outlet pipe

To guarantee maximum draw off capacity of hot water a copper draw off hot water outlet pipe takes water from the top of the
tank to the bottom mounted hot water outlet. Since hot water rises always to the top of the tank, this construction ensures
optimum use of the stored hot water.

Water connections
Threaded in and outlet nipples, 1/2 inch BSP for easy connection to cold and hot water piping.

Accessories
- Thermometer with clear indication of water temperature
- Inlet mounted pressure relieve safety valve with drain facility and hose connection for drain line
- Safety pressure relieve valve in top of the water heater (SASO models only)
- Pilot light indicating if the heating element is working

Suggested specification
The water heater shall be A.O. Smith model ______ electric wall hung water heater. The water heater shall be rated at ____
kW, ____Volts, single phase, 50/60 Hz AC power supply. The storage capacity shall be ____ liters. The water heater vessel
shall have a test pressure of 12 bar and a maximum working pressure of 8 bar. The tank shall be glass lined and equipped
with a magnesium anode for additional corrosion protection. Inlet pipe shall be made of copper and equipped with a diffuser
to prevent mixing of cold with hot water. The outlet pipe shall be made of copper and draw from the top of the tank.
The electric element shall be incoloy. The controls shall include a thermostat and a manual reset over heat protection switching
of power supply to the element when water temperature exceeds 86 °C. The element, thermostat and anode shall be moun-
ted at a removable flange to allow easy cleaning and maintenance. The water heater shall be supplied with pressure safety
valve. Fully illustrated manual to be included with the water heater.
