Preposition वे श द ह जो एक व तु का दस ू र व तु के साथ या संबंध है या या ि थ त है , के बारे म बताता
है ।
Preposition के बारे म कुछ त य:-
1) Preposition के बाद हमेशा Objective case का योग होता है । जैसे : He laughed at me.
2) Preposition के बाद verb का योग सीधे नह होता बि क noun के प म Ing लगाकर Gerund के प
म होता है । जैसे:- We are afraid of going out at night.

★बदला लेना या मक ु ाबला या आ मण करना आ द के अथ म

In/into – (म)
In – अंदर क ि थ त को बताता है .
Into – बाहर से भीतर क ग त को बताता है / अव था प रवतन को भी बताता है .
Ex. The Doctor in the Chamber. The frog Jumped into the well.
Ice changed into water. Ram went into the room.
In का योग:-
★Belief, faith, repose, confidence, trust, confide in (Person) व वास करना
★Cut, divide in half ★Delight (आन द), failure, glory (in success), honest
★Expert, proficient, versed ( नपण ु /कुशल)
★ काम म लगना, ल त होना आ द के अथ म
Engaged, absorbed, interfere, involved, indulge, interested, invested,
persistence(ि थरता/ नर तरता), persevere( नर तर यास करना), implicated(अ भयोग या अपराध म
फंसा हुआ)
★बढ़ना/घटना/सध ु ार- Increase, decrease, improvement.
Into का योग:-
★Break into - सध लगाना, Look into - जाँच करना, Render-Translate into - अनव ु ाद करना, Turn
into - बदलना, Enquired into - जाँच करना, Jump into - कूदना, Plunge - डुबक लगाना,
Enter और investigate के साथ into का योग ना कर। मगर enter into agreement का योग होता है ।

With/By – से/ के वारा


य द कोई काय कसी यि त वारा कया जाये तो by का योग होगा.
और य द कोई काय कसी य के साथ कया जाये तो With का योग होगा.
Ex. Taj Mahal was built by Shahjahan.
He was beaten with stick.
Note :- ले कन कुछ व तओु ं को जी वत मान लया जाता है जैसे अि न, बजल .

Between/Among :- के बीच म
Between का योग 2 के लए होता है . अगर 2 से अ धक सं या है तब among का योग कया जायेगा।
Ex. 1. Distribute these sweets between two students.
2. Distribute these sweets among five students.

After :- के बाद/ के पीछे


जब कोई चीज़ कसी के पीछे चल रह हो या जब कसी व तु के समाि त का भाव आये तब वहां पर after का
योग होता है .
Ex. - The police constable ran after the thief.
After lunch I shall watch movie in PVR.

Above/ Over :- ऊपर


तीन का अथ ऊपर होता है पर योग अलग अलग होता है ।
अगर ऊपर का े छोटे अथ म है तब above का योग होगा।
ऊपर का े बड़े अथ म है तब over का योग होगा।
Ex. The sun shines over us at noon.
The sky is above us.

Beside :- के बगल म / Besides :- के अ त र त या के अलावा


Ex. I sat beside him.
Besides Hindi you must know English also.

Inspite of / Despite :- के बावजद


ू .
दोन का योग एक ह थान पर कर सकते ह.
Ex. (Inspite of/ Despite) hard working he could not passed.
Examination म despite के साथ of होगा जो गलत है ।

Behind :- के पीछे .
जब कोई व तु कसी के पीछे हो और ि थर हो तब behind का योग होता है .
Ex.- My school is behind the railway station.
There is a bus stop behind my house.

Before :- कसी के सामने/ के पहले , In front of :- के सामने.


Before का योग दो तरह से कया जाता है एक तो समय के लए और दस ू रा ि थ त बताने के लए.
Ex. I reached the station before 5 ‘o’ clock.
(के पहले)
I am standing before you.
In front of का योग भी ‘के सामने’ के लए होता है पर अंतर सफ इतना है क before
का योग जी वत व तओ ु ं के लए होता है और in front of का योग नज व व तओ ु ं के लए होता है .
Ex. There is a bus stop in front of my house.

Beyond :- से परे
Ex. To spend Rs. 100 is beyond my capacity.
My house is situated beyond the hills.

To :- ल य बताता है / Towards :- क तरफ

To का योग:-
★Imperative sentence म beg, order, request, warn, implore, entreat, threaten, urge, forbid,
persuade, command, ask के बाद Object आएगा और Object के बाद to + Verb का योग होगा।

ले कन अगर Prevent/prohibit आये तो From का योग होगा।
जैसे:- He prevented/prohibited him from sitting idle.

के बाद to का योग होगा।

Preposition के कुछ अ य नयमः-


1. समय सच ू क श द से पहले यह this, last, next, each, every, that
का योग हो तो कोई preposition नह ं लगेगा.
Ex. - He reached here last morning.
He came here this evening.
2. जब कोई चीज़ कसी चीज़ से बनी होती है तब उस पदाथ के बाद of आता है .
3. Transitive Verb के साथ Preposition नह ं लगता य क Preposition इसम न हत होता है . जैसे.
Water – (को) पानी दे ना, Ask – (से) पछ
ू ना, Investigate – (क ) जांच करना, Enter – (म) वेश करना,
Discuss – (के बारे म/के ऊपर) बहस करना, Attack – (पर) आ मण करना, Tear – (को) फाड़ना, Order –
(का/ के लए) आदे श दे ना, Love/ hate – (से) यार करना/ घण ृ ा करना, Kidnap – (को) उठा ले जाना, Open
– (को) खोलना, Shut- (को) बंद करना, Sign – (पर) ह ता र करना, Climb – (पर) चढ़ना, Describe –
(के बारे म/ के ऊपर) बहस करना, Tell – (से) बताना, Resemble – (से) मेल खाना etc.

यातायात के साधन
यातायात के साधन के साथ by का योग होता है ले कन on foot, on horse back भी होता है .
Ex.- Ram comes here by bus/car/bike/train.
Shyam comes here on foot/ on horse back.
Note:- ले कन अगर यातायात के साधन से पव ू कोई Article या Adjective लगा है तब By
का योग नह ं होगा बि क in/on का योग होगा.
हर तरह क कार के लए in का योग होगा और उनके अलावा दस ू रे साधन के लए on का योग होगा।
Ex.- Jay come here in black BMW
Neeta went there on a bycycle.
