Shorted FETs In Hoverboard Repaired

A boy and his father walked into my shop holding a hovering board. It was clear to me that was something wrong
because I saw the kid a little bit sad. I asked the kid what was going on he said, the hovering board was not
charging. We are talking about 12 year old kid that was actually trying to fix his own hovering board. The kid
explained that he tried to change the battery inside but nothing changed. It was dead.
This is how it works, power up the charger and it should give you a green light and if you test that charger
output, you should get 42 voltages there. When inserting the power plug into the hovering board, the charger
light should change from green to red which is an indicator that it was charging. In my case, it was showing
green but when I insert the plug into the hovering board, I could hear ticking noise coming out of the charging
indication a short on the main board.

First thing to do was to take the hovering board off and look for shorted parts.
A very good idea to take photos of wires inside to make sure you put them back the way they were otherwise
you will get something shorted. Some wires are easy to put back but other need to be marked.
From experience, I headed directly to the main Mosfets on that board and sure enough I found two shorted
Mosfets and needed replacement.
This is the board from the other side and I have plenty of boards like this in my shop. I buy broken board, fix
them and keep them for future use either by selling them or taking parts off them.

In this case, I wanted to replace the whole board but the customer was not willing to pay for the price I asked so
I replaced the two shorted Mosfets. The part number is IRFB3607.

When tested them with my multimeter, all pins on both Mosfets were shorted out which mean two things, when
the kid replaced that battery on the hovering board the charger was connected to it or the battery was full when
he tried to plug the battery in somehow touched the wrong terminals together causing the Mosfets to short out.
Either way, the damage was done and it has to be fixed.
I replace two used Mosfets with the same part numbers, connected the battery after putting the board in its place
and adding thermal paste to them. I powered up the hovering board and this was the final outcome.
Mission accomplished.

The father and kid approached a professional for solution and they got it! Good job there! If I were you, I
would have replaced all the electrolytic capacitors and retouched all the soldering points!

As for the capacitors, it would cost more to do that and the father does not seems to
want to spend money on it. have a blessed day

Hi.
I have hoover board self balancing 2-wheel scooter, the problem is dead battery when I open the battery
pack
I found 4 mosfet 2 short RU6888R, can I replace it with any N cannel mosfet
