Final FS2
ANALYZE
1. From the PPSTs, the Southeast Asia Teachers Competency Standards and the TEDx
videos that you viewed, what competences does a great teacher possess?
For me communication, listening, collaboration, adaptation, empathy, and patience are all
attributes of a good teacher. An engaging classroom presence, value in real-world learning,
the exchange of best practices, and a lifetime love of learning are all aspects of excellent
teaching.
2. Are these competencies limited only to professional competencies?
No, teachers go out their borders for them to understand what students are going through day
by day they know their professions but they as a teacher know how to implement it as well as
giving their students the best care and knowledge to execute every detail of what their
student’s needs.
3. For a teacher to be great, is it enough to possess the professional competencies to plan
a lesson, execute a lesson plan, manage a class, assess learning, compute and report
grades? Explain your answer.
We all know that applying professional competency in teaching provides a more encouraging
and creates a wide horizon of knowledge to students that will make them feel secure of the
knowledge they gain from the teacher, it is an organized competency for teacher to follow
but not all the competency that children needs are in there. As a professional teacher you
need to seek all the needs that your students can and cannot do so you can provide or give
them the right treatment to their struggles
4. For a teacher to be great, which is more important-personal qualities or professional
competencies?
Both of them are good source of information on how you will be a great teacher, for me,
personal qualities over professional competencies is great because following your own way
of teaching doesn’t make you less professional for me it is a technique of every teacher, for
example: teachers use their humor to create a bond to their students and can create a good
relationship. We must first think what’s best for our students before anything else because
that’s the essentials of being a teacher
5. Among your teachers from elementary to college, who do you think is the great teacher
you had? Explain.
All of my teacher have a great impact on who I am right now but these teacher really inspire
me, my science teacher in grade 8. Teacher melanie makes science subject fun and enjoyable.
She relate everything on things that makes students understand it more and she have a lot of
patience for us. And teacher melanie is always there for us in times of trouble. She always
cheer us and give advice and words of wisdom when she know that someone have a problem.
And for me, that is one of the characteristics of a great teacher.
REFLECT
Which personal traits do I possess? Not possess? Where do I need improvement in?
As a future teacher I know some strategies of being a role model to students, first I have a
background of handling different situations in both students and a teacher because I
experience being a student so many times and I do practice teaching also with my co-students
and I possess good teaching practices. I don’t possess things that I don’t usually encounter
like different behaviors of students and teachers on how they improve students way of
learning so I need to improve my skills in observing all the negative and positive to make a
balance way of teaching in the future.
Which professional competencies am I strongly capable of demonstrating?
A teacher that acts as parents to their student’s, we all know that in the classroom we are the
center of knowledge where students gain from what we are imparting to them and if you want
to have a good relationship to your students you need to possess a characteristic of being a
father/mother that they can talk to when they are struggling and thought them that to be
successful he/she needs to work on it before anything else.
In which competencies do I need to develop more?
For me I need to develop all the competencies. Because for me every competencies need
improvements. And I want to excel on every competence to be a better teacher for my
students.
Who are the teachers that we remember most?
I remember so many teachers but one of them caught my heart it was teacher melanie,
because for me she is a great teacher which help her students to strive more and push them
that being knowledgeable enough is the most important aspects of a human being, she knows
what students needs and what students need to improve, she don’t underestimate their
capability but she let his students figured out until students grow and reach their full
potential and that is a good example of being a teacher.
WRITE ACTION RESEARCH PROMPTS
1. OBSERVE: In assisting my resource teacher, I observed that personal traits such as
bright personality comes excitement and originality, both of which are essential for
capturing the attention and respect of students and professional competencies like
establishing high but achievable expectations, encouraging a love for learning,
listening to others, being flexible and capable of adjusting to novel situations and
many more were least not displayed and as a result, students were class was class not
active and can destroy education of every student and it is said that educating the
