If you are assisting your mentor in an on-line class, these are some reminders you should
share to your remote learners on a synchronous platform like Google. Meet, zoom, MOOCS or
any other platforms you are familiar with and are using.

With the use any Google Meet, Zoom or any platform, organize a virtual class. Do this
with the guide of your mentor.

 Make sure your device is charged.

 Be respectful at all times.
 Turn on your camera.
 Find a quiet place free of distractions.
 Stay on mute and raise hand only if needed.

 Stay focused and on task so you won’t miss any information.

 Teacher and learners are dressed appropriately.

Try to handle one on-line class and use the guidelines above. Happy virtual teaching.

Unlike the traditional face- to-face classroom environment, online or virtual environment is a bit
difficult to manage. It is because Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is imaginary and not in
the physical sense. It has no corners or walls and it can be set up with the support of technology.

As a teacher, what have you discovered to be easy to implement in your virtual class?

 Ever since the new normal setting were implemented, vast number of teachers have been
busy looking for the best online learning platform. Teachers also have step out of their
comfort zone so that they could learn how to manipulate the needed technology for online
class. In that sense, I have learned that students preferred using Google Meet instead of
Zoom every once or twice in a week since it consumes less data plus it also has options
that is best for online interaction. Here you can do the traditional routines inside the
classroom like checking for student’s attendance, asking them to recite or participate in
your discussion. Another one is giving them a copy of lesson which they can read so that
the interaction will be present. Giving them also an assignments or worksheets to
evaluate their gained knowledge is a must.

How did the students show their active participation in the lesson?

 I observed that most of the learners were intelligent and could perform well during the
discussion. The students are focused in the lesson while the teacher is explaining about
their topic. Some raises their hands, unmute their mic and talk/recite, some also uses the
chat box in participating. Students are respectful and welcoming every explanation and
thoughts my resource teacher is teaching to them. Also, students have shown active
participation in the lesson by actively engaging themselves during the online class. They
have been vocal in giving their insights and opinions, and they are not afraid to answer
questions posed by my resource teacher. This shows that the students are truly displaying
interest and eagerness to learn despite our situation today.

Which of the following is/are your analysis/analyses of on-line learning environment? Check one
or more.

_________It was difficult to observe the physical behavior of the students.

_________ It takes time for students to learn how to use the platform.

_________ Students who are alone in their home space find difficult to make responses.

_________Internet connectivity is a great factor to support a conducive environment.

Reflect

Group Output
 As a future teacher I feel that the online learning environment can be safe if teacher
and students will cooperate with each other. We cannot strictly monitor the physical
behavior of students that is why students must perform their roles as a learner which
means that they should do their responsibilities and act accordingly to the rules given by
their teacher to assure a safe online learning. Embracing discipline that will result to a
smooth flow of education most especially at these times that the pandemic is striking us.
We need to be aware of things that can benefit us academically, grab the opportunity to
learn in virtual spaces. As a teacher, we need to adopt the classroom strategies to an
online environment. We need to choose effective ways to monitor student work when we
are not around to give them the guidance that they need. On the other hand, Parents as
well as teachers should monitor the references of the students, also parents should
monitor their children during virtual class and also their children’s browser history to
avoid children accessing malicious sites. Parents should also monitor their children to
avoid playing online games during virtual discussions.

 I think that teaching in a virtual learning environment is not that easy. You need to
be techno savvy or proficient in managing an online platform. You need to be flexible
and considerate in checking the attendance of the students before and after the class
especially when they have inconvenient internet connection. In the discussion of every
lesson, teachers should use a various learning experiences and resources to have a good
interaction with the learners. Virtual learning environment is also less tiring and cost-
efficient than the traditional learning environment but it has a great impact for the
learners. Some students will lose focus in their studies and lesson comprehension will
decrease because of not being in an educationally stimulating learning environment as
also because of some factors such as: slow internet connection, financial issues, as well as
psychological, emotional and physical disturbances.
