Notice
Unlike the traditional face-to-face classroom environment, online or virtual
environment is a bit difficult to manage. It is because Virtual Learning
Environment (VLE) is imaginary and not in the physical sense. It has no corners
or walls and it can be set up with the support of technology.

As a teacher, what have you discovered to be easy to implement in your

virtual class?
In attending class observations, I have discovered that considering new
source of knowledge is easy to implement in a virtual class where the knowledge
is not only can come from the teacher but also from the students. Through
sharing ideas, opinions in class are a way to see how the students can formulate
understanding in the lessons similarly a technique to connect to students
individually,

How did the students show their active participation in the lesson?

The student shows their active participation in the lesson when the
questions are related to their opinion. In addition, at the beginning of the class
there is a part where the students will share news, this is also one of the actions
that the students are active in the class because of the different types of news
they provide such as social, economic, health etc.

Analyze
Which of the following is/are your analysis/analyses of on-line learning
environment? Check one or more.
_____It was difficult to observe the physical behavior of the students. (For
some students, especially when their camera is not open.)
_____It takes time for students to learn how to use the platform. (For
some students)
_____Students who are alone in their home space find difficulty to make
responses. (For some students)
_____Internet connectivity is a great factor to support a conducive
environment.

Reflect
As a future teacher I feel that the on-line learning environment can be safe
if there are classroom rules. These classroom rules help students to be
disciplined and to be aware of the dos and don’ts. In addition, as what I
have witnessed in my classroom observation. I think that teaching in a
virtual learning environment is

I think that teaching in a virtual learning environment is quite difficult, a lot

of preparations especially in presentations, presenting videos and
strategy. On the other hand, teaching in a virtual learning environment
allows teachers to integrate the use of technology in education in lesson
delivery for intended learning outcome of a particular lesson.

OBSERVE

Remembering my classroom observations in FS 1, I noticed that there are many

questions that I raised in my mind. These include:

a. Students’ behavior, improper sitting position, body movements,

inappropriate attire
b. Teacher and student devices, internet connectivity
c. Students are not opening their cameras

Thinking deeply about those problems, perhaps something must have been done
to solve the problem or answer the question, like:
a. Encourage students to follow the rules regarding their attire etc,
b. ___________________________________________________________
c. Be consistent to the classroom rules if possible.

PLAN
Now, that I am in FS 2, I plan to make a plan for my solution to problem (choose
from a, b, c),because as a what I have observed, it shows that some students
are not listening while their camera is off in discussion. As a student, it is hard for
me to understand the lesson or even recover my attention to the discussion when
I do not establish the eye contact from the Teacher. So, I am confused what are
the reasons why students do not open their camera except the reasons about
internet connectivity and devices.

ACT
My action will come later, given enough time in FS 2 or during my Teaching
Internship.

OBSERVE

What problematic situation prevails in the classroom?

Based on my observation, the problematic situation that I want to give focus in

the classroom is to begin with there are students who do not participate very
much in the classroom discussion sometimes if you haven't called, they won't
speak, sometimes lack of initiative, often no one wants to recite even if the
question is repeated. And I think it has to do with the teacher’s approach and
strategy in class but I am not against the teacher’s strategy but I think it may
have to do with it.

REFLECT
What changes do you want to achieve?
In embracing the online class, I want to achieve and maintain the student’s
attention, interest while in classroom. I am informed that this can be difficult and
as a Student Teacher I cannot please my students to participate but I want to
make a change on how I will take part of my strategies and teaching approaches.
Moreover, I have noticed that the students in 21 st century is already showing
different levels of learning and confident enough to the knowledge they have. As
a Student Teacher and as I spend time with them in class, I have witnessed that
the students more well-informed about the situation and their level of participation
is different from what I have experienced. As a teacher in the future, it can be a
challenge for me because I see their high competencies and broad knowledge in
the situation where they are able to make their conclusion. But on the other hand,
I will try and be knowledgeable in the information and way of conveying
knowledge to them.

PLAN
What strategies will you use to improve the situation?
I want to possess a kind of teacher who is quite strict in my strategies depending
on the situation. It is because I want to let my students be reminded about the
boundaries and at least help my students to act appropriately what is expected of
them as students. I believe that this kind of act may somewhat affect how they
build the relationship with the teacher maybe it is uncomfortable with them but I
take this as one of my strategies in the future.

ACT
What would be the title of your Action Research should you conduct the
study?

Model A:

Activity 1: Developing an Initial Research Action Plan

A. Observe/ Notice
What problem/concern have I noticed that affect teaching-learning?
Example response. The problem I have noticed is that there is a lot of competition in
the classroom. The slow learners are left behind.

 Write your own observed/ noticed classroom problem here:

The problem I have noticed in the classroom is that there are a lot of students who
turn of their cameras along with that students are not answering when they are called
by their teacher.

B. Reflect
Think deeply of the problem and your observation. Why is this happening? Can the
slow learners be helped? How will it be done?
Example response: I think most of the activities are very competitive . There are
always, winners and losers The smart students overrule the poor students thus often
they continue to be losers. With this situation, I believe, that I should modify my
classroom strategy.

 Write your reflective response to the problem you stated:

Turing on the student’s device in class discusiion is one of the school and classroom
rules in the school I attended. Among the 10 sections, I think there are 3-4 sections
who most likely do not turning on their cameras and having the same reason. With

this situation, it is quite alarming since most of them do not really participate in class
and as a teacher it may affect their academic performance as well as their
communication and social contact. Moreover, it shows students do not follow the
certain classroom rules, that as a future teacher I should reinforce classroom
strategy and approaches that is appropriate to the student’s gade level. As a future
teacher, I want to address the issues and problems that may affect the teaching and
learning environment to ensure that my students are having healthy and effective
environment in learning. Since the implementation of online classes are now
considering as a part of system of education in this pandemic, I want to give focus on
what is one of the struggles we see to the students in this type of learning
environment.

C. Plan for Action

Key questions:

- What will I do as a teacher to solve the problem?

I will encourage my student to follow the classroom rules. If so, I will be using a
strategy for them to at least follow and be engage in the class.

- How will Idescribe my intervention, innovation, or actions to the identified problem

I think there are innvovation on how I implement the classroom rules based on grade level.

- How long will it take to introduce the intervention?

- With whom shall I work?

I will work with the their Parents and Co-teachers, since it is online learning I can be
in touch with their parents like informing them about the child’s participation and

responses in class. For my co-teachers, we will have an agreement where he/she
can report to me the students who do not open the camera and do not always
participate in class for the sake of the student.

- What materials do I need?

- Are methods, participants, data collection, time table considered in my

Plan for Action?

Example response: My ·plan is to introduce cooperative learning in the classroom.

I create a mixed ability grouping with fast, average and slow learners in their
activities. I will rotate the leadership in the group, so that each one will have a
chance. The bright will assist or help the slow ones. I will try this out for eight
weeks. I think I can work alone with my students. I need only tables and chairs or if
not available, arm chairs arranged in circles will be an alternative.

 Write your own Plan of Action Research based on the key questions. You give
more details.
My plan is to utilize the use of teachnology ang resources in education especially in
recent situation. I am also a student, and I believe that turning on the camera makes
a difference in how a student can focus, participate in class and gain interest since
not all students may not be interested in the lesson.Considering the usual reasons
why they do not open their cameras such as low internert connectivity and devices
but on the other hand, it is not an excuse particularly when the entire section does
not open the camera while the teacher is discussing even not answering to the
question when they asked. As a future teacher, I will also make an effort and
difference when it comes in implementing the rules if it needs to be quite strict I will
