BEED IV- GenEd Learning Episode 8

WRITE ACTION RESEARCH PROMPTS

OBSERVE

1. The problem/challenges I encountered in establishing my

classroom routines how can I arrange my classroom routines
properly that makes my students understand and remember it easily
and make it regularly in short period of practicing my classroom
routines from entering and exiting in my classroom.

REFLECT

2. I hope to achieve to address these problems and challenges by

First, using a poster board, butcher paper, or some other easily displayable
medium, put together a display with the routine written out step by step.

 Keep each step of the routine as concise as possible.

 Ensure that the steps are developmentally appropriate. Using pictures

and large print is a great way to communicate classroom expectations
for young children who may not be able to read the labels.

 Try to keep routines to as few steps as possible.

Next, identify an area of the classroom to post the routines. Ensure that the
area can be easily viewed by the entire class without causing disruption.
Placing it in proximity to where the routine happens can be a helpful
reminder to students (e.g. posting the line-up routine next to the classroom
door).

Plan

3. Some strategies/ways which I can employ to improve my

classroom routines are

Having clear rules and boundaries- Listen attentively when others

are speaking, sit sensibly in your chair, and value everyone's
perspectives are just a few examples of classroom norms (positive
attitude). Involve your students in the development of the rules, and
hold everyone accountable.
Practice what you preach- Be a positive role model and
demonstrate how students should behave in your classroom. Students
learn from your actions and words, therefore you need to offer a
positive example for them to follow.
Positivity and reward- When dealing with classroom disruptions, it's
all too easy to focus on the pupils who are acting out. Adopting a
positive attitude and praising students who behave in a respectful
manner, on the other hand, can be a powerful approach to encourage
others to follow suit.

Act

4. (Based on my answers in nos. 1-3), the possible title of my action

research on this episode is

The Effects of Classroom Management Styles on Students’ Motivation and

Academic Performance

To further enrich my knowledge on establishing classroom routines

and procedures, whether in the classroom or in remote learning, these are
some of the online resources which will help me in these activities. (Include
books, websites, you tube videos and the like and share these to your peers.

PARTICIPATE AND ASSIST

My Classroom Management Plan

Philosophical Statement
“Every student can learn. Just not on the same way.”- George Evan
As a teacher, I take into account my students' differences; each learner is unique, thus I
must establish a conducive classroom environment in which kids can grow physically,
mentally, emotionally, and socially. It is my goal to create a learning environment in which
students can pursue their interests while eagerly studying. I will also give a safe place for
my students to communicate their thoughts, feelings, and difficulties in order for them to
feel comfortable and develop friendships with their classmates.
Classroom Rules and Procedures
Raise your hand to speak- To avoid the noise and interrupt the class discussion.
Contribute to discussion- To ensure that everyone learned the lesson
Maintain your work ethic and always try your best- To make a positive impact
through our decisions and actions in classroom and towards other.
Respect your teacher and classmates- It helps promote positive culture inside
the classroom
Keep our classroom clean- To minimize the distractions that can take the mind of
students away from learning
Teacher-Student Relationships
I consider the following aspects when forming relationships with my students:
1. Quality Time with students. I'll set up a one-on-one conversation with each of
my pupils to get to know them better and listen to their concerns, whether they're at
school or at home, as well as address their needs.
2. Use positive communication techniques. When talking with my kids, as a
teacher, I will use a soothing voice. I'll also provide them positive feedback on their
activities and performance in order to motivate them to improve. It's also crucial to
appreciate your students, who will respect you in return.
3. Welcoming and friendly environment. To help develop a pleasant classroom
culture, begin each session with greetings and icebreaker questions.

Classroom Structure, Design and Arrangements

To reduce noise, seating should be alternated (boy- girl- boy- girl).
Students' desks should be set up such that they may readily engage with one
another and work together to finish group projects.
To motivate students, motivational quotations and verses must be presented.
Students' achievements and reminders are displayed on bulletin boards to inform
and encourage them.
There must be a list of classroom practices and expectations.
Students must be able to sit comfortably on the shelves and in the reading area.

Classroom Safety Rules and Procedures

In the hallways and stairways, walk rather than run. In order to avoid accidents and
injury.
On corridors and stairways, keep to the right. By walking on the right, the individual
can avoid colliding with those approaching from the opposite way.
Keep aisles clean in the classroom so that everyone can walk about freely and
accidents are avoided.
Don't go to unauthorized areas are some places that are solely for employees and
not for students.
Follow the rules of proper conduct set forth by the school.
Strategies for Rewards and Consequences
Rewards
Using tangible rewards include stickers, small toys, treats, privileges (like to play).
Using intangible rewards like giving appreciation, compliments and additional points
for positive behaviour.

Punishments
Have students write a change of behaviour plan stating three things: what they did
wrong, why they did it and what they are going to do differently so that they will not
repeat it.
Call home and explain the misbehaviour and what changes you would like to see
with their behaviour.
