FS1 – EPISODE 1 : THE SCHOOL AS LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Question: How does the school campus and the classroom in particular impact
the learning of the students?
In my own opinion, every student is unique based on their personality and

the environment where they have been grown up from their babies to childhood

life. Some of them started to learn from a simple identification of colors, listening

music, touching an object and other things that maybe the babies or the child may

easily acquire and transmit to their minds. Thus, every student has a different

attitude and senses how they are going to react and respond to the environment

where they belong.

This situation is the same to the school campus and a classroom, if the

student is not typically exposed to a smelly and noisy area, then he is maybe not

interested to learn because he maybe cannot adapt his new learning environment.

On the other hand, some students were reverse because they maybe want to a

noisy environment of which for them, they can easily learn and adapt new things

according to their attitude and senses.

Therefore, I conclude that the environment has a great impact to the

learning of the students and this thus not mean that it has only limited to the status

of the school campus and classroom such as conducive, engaging to the eyes,

have a comfortable temperature, offer great choices of nourishment, have trees

and plants for clean, good-smelling discuss, with great quality rooms and not

making echoes of voices or hearing the other room’s commotion but it is also

included and considered as environment the people around to the student.

FS1 – EPISODE 2 : CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT & LEARNING

Question: If you will become a classroom adviser, how will you organize your
classroom? What routines and procedures would you be implementing? explain.

For me, if I would become a classroom adviser, I will organize my classroom

according to the set-up of the situation, why? Because in a public school, it always

expects that the number of the student per classroom will exceed to the normal

ratio of a teacher from one is to forty-five (1:45). In reality, the number of the

student per classroom as of today will not below to sixty (60) student which is one

of the factors how are you going to organize your classroom. In any case, if I will

do have this number of students as an adviser of the classroom, what routines and

procedures would I be implemented? I think, the routines and procedures that I

would be implement should always be vary the conditions of the school policies to

the classroom which should always be followed in a normal sequence such as

setting a seat plan of the student in an alphabetical order, classifying the students

according their gender identity, grouping the students into five (5) groups to be

assigned in the activities in order them to be responsible and to learn a simple

works that might they usually also do at their own home and I will also set or elect

an officer per grading so that everyone will function and will exercise the leadership

functions.

Question: How does the school and home influence the learner?

For me, the school influence so much to the learner because the school is

the right place or the right environment for the conducive learning. As we

remember, the school is our second home and most of our time that we are focus

is we consume at the school. The school built our confidence as we interact to

another person or our classmate and our teacher. We learned to be in our self

alone and do some things that that we do not do in our home. We face our

challenges alone that think that we are afraid of. We learn things that we do we do

not learn from home. So, the school influence so much to us because the school

develop our personality to be professional, molding our strength into learnings and

evolving ourself to be the best. While the home for me is also influence so much

to us because the home is our foundation of learning where our parents teach us

basic knowledge while we are growing from infant to child and into adulthood. Our

parents in home truly molds ours character and attitude because what we act in

the home is also, we act in the school thus home environment entails the emotional

warmth displayed by parent while interacting with their children. I could say that, if

the influence from home and the school is less, then the learning of the learner is

poor that is why the school and home influence the learner by nurturing their minds

from one at time learning process.

Question: Describe the learning environment of our students during the present
global health crisis. (1) Does the present environment affect the learning
outcomes? How? (2) As a future teacher, in what ways can you establish a
conducive learning environment during state emergencies just like today?

Yes, the present environment really affects the learning outcomes of the

students. This pandemic experience brought to us is so much unexpected that

changes our present environment not only here in our country but also affects

globally. As we look into beyond years, the schools are one of the places

considered for conduciveness learning for students where everybody has a

freedom to do their wants and things that they want to explore in where they can

create learning outcomes for themselves. In other words, the learning outcomes

before is expresses by a result in terms of the learning of the students from the

face to face classes in schools where the students had interconnections and

interactions between their teacher. However, during this pandemic crisis, the

conduciveness learning for student which is the school had change into nothing in

terms for the learning outcomes because of the new set up of the learning process

that we adopt and embraces nowadays. As we always believe in the sayings

“Education is a key to success” student today engage in home base education in

order to cope up the learning process through the use and help of modular, online

classes and other platform just to continue the learners learning. However, learning

at home in the academic aspect is less productive rather than at the school

premise. Students can’t concentrate in the lesson due to the environment

especially if homes are situated in a crowed place. Destruction is inevitable to arise

that why the learning outcomes of student are poor and this is how the present

environment affects the learning outcomes.

As future, teacher, I will always put first the safety of my student over the

learning process that I can share to them. But, as a teacher who believes in the

saying “Education is a key to success”, I will sustain my responsibilities and my

duties to give and share my knowledge to my student in the learning process so

that the education they want to we can still provide and they can also experience

the same as normal education. With this present environment set up, I think the

best thing the way I can to establish a conducive learning environment for my

students during this state emergency just like today is to organize a direct

connection to the parents of the students where I can immediately contact them

for the updates on their daily task so that I can ensure that the learning process of

their study will still on the track. I will also follow-up those students who cannot

submit their daily task and give them a day of extension for the submission so they

have time to answer and fulfill their task. I will also initiate an exam or a quiz in

every last day of the class that they will only the one to answer without the help

from their parents so that I can make sure that the learning outcome from their

learning process is realistic and authentic. For this time, I could say that being a

teacher, I was able to fulfill my duties and responsibilities in spite of the pandemic

crisis that I still address and give to my student the said Conducive Learning

environment that everyone is hoping for.

REALIZATIONS/REFLECTIONS/INSIGHTS ABOUT THE LEARNERS AND
THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT:

Truly indeed that the works of a teachers is worthless and indispensable in terms

of being part of the development of the learners. The teacher is the master who

will be the one to guide and input an information and knowledge to the learners

which the learners will enable to process and develop the learning they have been

learned from their teacher. It is worthless because the learning that being feed

already and develop by the student itself is irrevocable by anyone who wants to

get it. It is also indispensable because if the information and knowledge was being

feed is not ethically and consistently characterize as good manners, the

development of the learnings of the student will be affected by means of

characterization of attitudes. Therefore, the learnings development of every

student must be fully overseen in whatever means especially in the starting point

of their learnings from home up to the school environment.

The school environment has a big impact that can directly affect the learner’s

development because the learners will certainly adapt the things and the practices

that the school environment has. These things will matter on the people arounds

them who they can always interact with such as their classmates, friends and other

colleagues. One reasons also is the environment of the place or location where

they were just roaming around, maybe it will differ to the ambiance of the school

like having a huge facilities and small facilities, convenience of the rooms and other

school areas.

Another factor that also affects to the learner’s development is the teacher, why?

Because they are the one who are looking and guiding the student within their

class. They are also the direct tools who feeds information and knowledge to the

student during their class discussion. It means, the teacher has a full control of

their student in developing their acquired knowledge and learnings.

Likewise, the development of the knowledge and the learning of the learners will

vary to the teacher who handle the student. It will depend to the teaching strategy

of the teacher how they were going to interact with their student. Some teachers

are hands on and others are focused to other side of developing learners’

knowledge such as intrapersonal aspect of the student.

The foundation that most affect to the learner’s development is the family. The

family is the core element in developing the learner’s knowledge because the

family is the starting point of every student to develop their selves forming into

acquired knowledge. Therefore, the family is also considered as learner’s

environment.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Hi! My name is ZARATE CAPANGPANGAN


APERO, I live in Purok 1, Barangay La Filipina, Tagum
City, Davao Del Norte. I’m 34 years of age, Single and
born on June 14, 1986 at Masara, Maco, Davao De
Oro. I have one brother and three sisters and I am the
third among the siblings in my family. I am currently
employed and working as Safety Officer in one of the
Mining company in Davao De Oro province.

I completed my Degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration


major Human Resource Management at University of Mindanao Tagum College. I
spend studying for ten (10) years which I started from the year 2010 and finished
this year which I just graduated last April 2020 but unfortunately no formal
ceremony conducted.

My plan after I will finish my Bachelor Degree in the UM Tagum College is


to earn units of education which my school choice is the Arriesgado College
Foundation Inc. because this school was referred to me by most of my friends who
took up units of education and passed already the said Licensure Examination for
Teachers (LET).

I always believe that embracing education is a tool that learning doesn’t


ended up from one point to other but rather it is a process of adapting new
learnings and achieving knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, good attitude, and moral
habit. These things can evolve us to be determined person from within ourself but
also in our outside personality that will bring us and set up to be more professional
in the character.
