FS 3 EPISODE 1: THE SCHOOL LEARNING RESOURCES

Today, our country is facing a pandemic. All students are not

allowed to go out and went to school. Teachers are also working from
home because of the virus. So, the DepEd, CHED and TESDA find ways
to open this school year by using online and virtual classes in order to
facilitate learning. But, these online and virtual classes had also their ups
and downs. Students who had no access to internet, don’t have laptops,
tablets and even smart phones suffered the most.

If I will become a teacher, I would use a combination of online

classes and modules. Modules will help those students who had no
access to the internet in their continued learning. Some remote areas
even in my locality had a difficulty in accessing the internet or worst don’t
even have a phone signal. That’s why, I would prefer modules and other
printed learning kits to facilitate their learning. On the other hand, online
classes had its perks also. It is more convenient to the students and
teachers to use online platform because we don’t need to have meet ups
face to face. All the assignments and researches are accessible online.

FS 3 EPISODE 2 : BULLETIN BOARD

IMAGINE THAT YOU ARE A CLASSROOM ADVISER. THE SCHOOL

PRINCIPAL ISSUED A MEMORANDUM THAT THE CLASSROOM
MUST BE RESTRUCTURED FOR THE UPCOMING OPENING OF
CLASSES FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2020-2021. PART OF THIS
MEMORANDUM IS THE STRUCTURING OF THE CLASSROOM
BULLETIN BOARD. YOUR TASK IS TO CREATE YOUR OWN
CLASSROOM BULLETIN BOARD.

FS 3 EPISODE 3 : 21ST CENTURY INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

RESEARCH AT LEAST 5 21ST CENTURY INSTRUCTIONAL

MATERIALS. DESCRIBE HOW THESE MATERIALS ARE PROPERLY
UTILIZED IN THE CLASSROOM. PROVIDE PICTURES OF THESE
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS.

IMs are tangible substances and real objects that provide the audio
and/or visual component necessary for learning. It does not only aid
instruction, they help learners to be motivated and ready for learning as
well.

1. Demonstration material like chalkboards and bulletin board

Chalkboard/Whiteboard- in spite of the emerging of new

technologies used in the learning process, every school still this material
in the classroom. it can help the teacher take visible cues from students. It
brings the learner closer to reality and actively engages him/her in a visual
reality. It is a quick way to attract attention and it is flexible especially if
made for easy modification. It is useful for cognitive, affective, and
psychomotor skill development since the teacher can immediately
address students’ body language and facial expressions that suggest
confusion about the material that has been written on the board.

Bulletin board- Every classroom had their own different bulletin boards
that display different content. This is not only used as a wall decoration
but it is a powerful learning tool that relays information to students,
reinforce lessons, and display student work.

2. Audio Visual Materials like overhead projectors, television, slides.

5
AudioVisual Materials like projector and television is very effective when
you’re dealing with a large group of people in the classroom. It is a
productive form of communication inside the classroom that will heighten
the awareness of the student’s sight and hearing. It helps the students
retention and comprehension for a longer duration.

3. Printed materials like books- a written or printed work consisting of

pages glued or sewn together along one side and bound in covers. Books
are important to help inspire students to do hard work with courage and
hope. In reading books, it will help the students improve their memory and
build more vocabulary. It takes a lot of courage to read a book especially
in this digital age.

4. YouTube Channels for e-learning- it is applicable during this time of

pandemic when students and teachers are using digital classroom. The
teacher can upload their video lessons and the students can view and
download it for their reference.

6
5. Teacher- is the best instructional material because she is the one who
manages the classroom. She’s the one tangible and real object that
provide audio and visual component necessary for student learning
( academia.edu).

REALIZATIONS

Our country faces the horrendous effect of the Covid-19 pandemic.

All the sectors in the country are affected. In this difficult and trying times,
our education sector had an abrupt change in terms of learning modality.
The government did not allow the school to operate using the face to face
modality. The education sector looks for ways to innovate and change the
learning modality from face to face to modular, online or to blended
learning. We have to use what are the available resources that we can
use for learning. This is why technology will comes in.

With the help of technology, we can still continue the learning

process of our students. Instead of having a face to face classes, we can
change it to online and virtual classes or modular for those students who
don’t have access to internet. Based on my experiences, some professors
uploaded their video lessons on youtube so that every body can access,
review and download it at their convenient time. Despite the fact that
we’re not using face to face modality, we can still use IMs or instructional
materials. We can insert it in our powerpoint presentation or in our video
lessons and upload it online.

There are some minor disadvantages in using an online platform

when we are dealing with students in areas where they don’t have access
to internet or dead zones or don’t have a phone signal. Modular learning
modality is advised. Students in public schools under DepEd are using
modules. The role of the teacher here is to help the parents of the
learners in teaching their children using the modules.

We cannot deny the fact that the world had already change. And
we should adopt that change in order for us to be progressive. The
current technology will help our learners to be able to adopt to that
changes. We cannot leave our learners behind.

As a future educator, I should know what are the technologies that

I will be using in my teaching because I don’t know when this pandemic
will end. I should prepare myself when the day will come that I will
become a licensed teacher.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I am Aires Piamonte Capadngan Ocut. I am a Bachelor of

Science in Business Administration major in Human Resource
Management (BSBA-HRM) graduate at UM Tagum College. I
graduated last October 2018. I was a provincial scholar on my first
three years in the university but on my fourth and final year I wasn’t
able to comply with the grade requirement. I worked as a part-time
cashier at NCCC Mall of Tagum for almost two-years, that happened
a long time ago. I wasn’t able to finish my degree during that time
because of my negligence and lack of determination. I continue to
work in that establishment until I got married in 2011. I stopped
schooling for almost 10 years. But, I love school very much. I pursue
my degree until I finished it. I encountered a lot of difficulties when I
went back to college. Not that, I am having troubles with my new
subjects but I’m having trouble to the new environment and new-
bred of students and classmates. I was able to cope with the
changes as well as to my subjects. Luckily, I excelled in my field and
got a high grade in most of my major subjects. The hardest part of
my college life was doing my thesis on “ Human Resource
Management Practices and Employee Engagement Among DavNor
Employees”. It was challenging and very tiring.

After my graduation, I planned to pursue a degree in

Education. This year, I enrolled at Arriesgado College Foundation,
Inc. I earned units in Education. It’s difficult but full of challenges
and set-backs. I applied for an Administrative Officer II at DepEd
DavNor, because I am also a Civil Service ELigible. I have undergone
the Interview and Deliberation. Right now, I am waiting for a positive
feedback.

For me, education is a continued learning. I will not stop

learning until I grow older. It is good to learn new things and apply it
in our daily lives. And, it is also good to embrace changes in our
selves and to our surroundings because change is inevitable.
