 Hamlet (Protagonist)

Hamlet is a Prince of Denmark, son of Queen Gertrude and King Hamlet, had a dispute about his mother
quick remarriage with his uncle, Claudius, and in a complicated affair with Ophelia

 Claudius (Antagonist)
Hamlet uncle, stepfather, and the new king, always craving power, at the end of the story he is killed by
Hamlet with a poisonous sword

 Gertrude
The Queen of Denmark and mother of Hamlet, later died because of drinking the poisonous wine that
used to trap Hamlet

 Ophelia
Polonius daughter, Laertes Sister, and Hamlet Lovers

She is very obedient and reliant towards her brother and father eventually goes crazy by being torn
apart between her family and her lover. Consequently committed suicide

 Horatio
Hamlet best friend, he stays loyal to Hamlet throughout his entire life and almost kill himself but stay
alive to tell others what happened as Hamlet wishes

 Laertes
Polonius son and Ophelia brother, overprotective over his sisters, after he finds out about what happens
about Ophelia he insists to fight with Hamlet at her grave, end up killed by Hamlet with a poisonous
sword during their duel

 The Ghost
The spirit of Hamlet's father who plans to seek revenge on his brother through Hamlet

 Plot
1. Exposition

The exposition in this story is started when Hamlet who is studying in Wittenberg found out that his
father is passed away by a snake bite and his mother is already remarried to Hamlet's uncle Claudius,
later that day Horatio/Hamlet friend from Wittenberg is telling Hamlet about the King's Ghost that
appeared every night.

2. Rising Action

The rising point of this story is begin when Hamlet and Horatio are seeking the King's ghost and the
ghost told Hamlet to seek revenge on his uncle for the death of The King, having a dilemma between
believing the word of a ghost or not, Hamlet staged a play to trap his uncle and make sure that his uncle
is the killer, seeing that his uncle is distressed during the play makes Hamlet sure that the murderer of
his father is Claudius

3. Climax

The climax of the story happens when Hamlet mistakenly stabs Polonius to death in the King's Chamber
thinking that he killed Claudius, after he did this Hamlet is accused of treachery and brings himself to a
conflict with Claudius.

4. Resolution

The resolution happens when he escapes from being executed in England just to found that Ophelia, his
lover already dies, during his return to Denmark Hamlet is confronted by Laertes who believes that the
causes of his father and sister death are Hamlet, which lead to a fencing match where all of the royal
family is killed.

 Point Of View
This story is written in third person point of view, which there is a narrator narrating the story.

 Setting
The setting of the story is set in royal palaco of Elsinore, a city in Demark on the late middle age (14th
and 15th centuries, or 1300 to 1499)
