“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest”

-Benjamin Franklin

It has been my firm belief that life’s meaning does not just stem from the actual length of time spent by a
person in living, or the abundance that can be acquired, but in the overall wonderfulness and richness of
life in itself. As I grew older, a lot of things in life have also changed. One thing stays constant though,
that is, the fact that I will still continue to pursue doing what I really like to do, hoping that one day, all of
my endeavors will prove to be of value to the people around me. I often see this as the only available way
in which I can completely understand the value of life.

My name is Tharun Bejugam, and I am from Hyderabad, the city known for its history, rich cultural
heritage, Information Technology and of course for being known as the “City of Pearls”. I am the second
child of my parents. My father’s name is Bejugam Hanumanth Rao and my mother’s name is Bejugam
Jyothi. My parents got divorced when I was very young, and I have lived with my father ever since.
Through the years, he has been my role model, mentor, best friend and most incredible source of
inspiration. He is also my biggest supporter.

Coming from a traditional family, I was always expected to concentrate on my education. However, in my
high school - Tagore’s Home New Era Institute, football was mandatory for boys. Even though I was less
inclined towards sports, I had to reluctantly take part in a few football tournaments. Eventually, we won a
major inter-school tournament, which was a big boost for my confidence. I then took up inter-school
competitions in throw ball and also joined swimming classes. This was a game changer for me as taking
part in sports not only improved my self-confidence but also was a good source of alleviating stress and
bringing in discipline.

My father is in the Gold business, which he inherited from his father. I was always fascinated with the
way he ran the business, coordinated with suppliers, engaged the customers and always ensured the best
quality output. He inspired me to take up graduation in a discipline which would help the family business,
and hence, I completed my bachelor’s in Commerce from Little Flower Degree College. This had given
me the much-needed insight into Economics, market essentials and the basics of Business Management.
While in college, I also added Java and Tally ERP to my skill set. Participation in debates and JAM
sessions helped me overcome my stage fear, which was there since childhood, and also improved my
spoken English.
After graduation I worked in a private limited company called Madhu Power Tech as an Assistant
Accountant for 3 years. During this period, in my free time I served as a Teacher and Accountant in
Governmental Rehabilitation Organization, where we also used to organize medical camps for
underprivileged children with the help of funds raised for them. Bonding and mingling with these
children was a very humbling and enriching experience. Being surrounded by a unique and diverse group
of people while volunteering here, made me culturally sensitive and inculcated a sense of social and
moral responsibility.

After my stint at Madhu Power Tech, I started working with my father full time in the family’s gold
business. As a child, my dream was to grow up to become an explorer and travel the world. Having
travelled frequently to other states within the country for my family business, I grew up with a great
appreciation for different cultures. I hope to be able to study abroad in Taiwan in order to further my
understanding of the nuances of business management with an education from a top-notch institution like
National University of Kaohsiung, in the area of International Masters of Business Administration. My
interest is not just in the field of Business, but also to be an Educator. The reason why I am applying for
your University is that your Institution comes with a time-honored background and history. You offer a
promising program which is highly recognized and renowned across the world.

I’m eagerly looking forward to being accepted into your prestigious University and make the most out of
this opportunity.
