1. FUNCTIONALITY OF THE BOARD


The parallel operation controller is used for controlling two or more, however max. 9 parallel
Datapower or UPS systems. The function of this controller is synchronization, operation control
between different operational modes as well as load sharing. Communication between the parallel
systems is galvanically insolated.

1.1. SYNCHRONIZATION
Frequency range: 45-65Hz.
Synchronization speed: About 2Hz/Sec.
(The synchronization of the main controller must be set to fixed slew-rate 4Hz/Sec., meaning that
adaptive slew-rate is set off).

1.2. OPERATION CONTROL


Redundant principle, meaning that the systems being able to operate in inverter operation will
continue operating in this mode in case of inverter failures in other systems. At overload of a
system operating in inverter operation, all systems will switch over to bypass.
As regards Datapower systems, the systems being able to operate in normal operation will
continue operating in this mode in case of mains voltage failures in other systems. At overload of a
system operating in normal operation, all systems will switch over to battery operation.

1.3. LOAD SHARING


Principle:
Automatic regulation of output voltage, to obtain optimum load sharing of reactive load.
Automatic regulation of phase angle, to obtain optimum load sharing of ohmic load.
Symmetric up/down regulation round nominal output voltage ensures statically stable output
voltage at 0 to 100% load.
Accuracy:
Max. difference in load between two arbitrary systems at full load: 5% at nominal output current per
system.
Typ. difference in load: 2%.
Max. current between two no-load systems: 10% of nominal output current.
(Condition of specified load sharing:
Max. tolerance on measuring values of current transformers ±1%.
Max. tolerance on pre-adjusted output voltage ±1%.
Max. tolerance on filter components, that is AC-choke, capacitor module on output, and
magnetizing current in main transformer ±10%).

3. CONNECTION CABLE
Multiple cable 14-link + shield, for example 14 x 0,14mm2 + shield.
Max. cable length between systems: total 100m (at typical cable about 120pF/meter, 140mÙ/m).
Internal connection in systems: 2 pcs. 14-link ribbon cables to 2 pcs. 15-pole SUB-D female plugs,
crimp type.
1 pc. 40-link ribbon cable to main controller.

4. CONFIGURATION
No configuration need to be done on the hardware of the XXW Parallel Operation Controller board.
