The controller itself is the 2nd PMC (PMC2) of the Fanuc Controller. The PMC2 works independent of other
Elements of the Pro.5/Pro.6 Controller. A wide interface to other Pro.5/Pro.6 components allows a high
automation level.
This manual describes only PMC2-Software-specific control-functions of the Jig-Controller, related to the
Hydraulic Unit.
In order to get a complete description of the Jig Controller Functions, please refer to other Software Control
Specifications of the Jig-Controller:
Jig Controller Fixture Functions
Jig Controller TPH Connection
Jig Controller CPH Connection
Jig Controller Pneumatic Unit
Jig Controller Coolant Functions
Jig Controller APC Safety Door Functions
Jig Controller Stocker Functions
Jig Controller Parameters Manual
A couple of functions are prepared as ‘special customer-solutions’. These functions might be explained in
separated documentations.
The Robot Interface description is not part of this manual. Please refer to the manuals for the Robot Interface:

In order to get the complete functionality of each Jig-Controller, information about the hardware-circuits are
necessary:
Explanations about the hydraulic- and pneumatic-circuits are not part of this manual. Please contact the
mechanical design group, in order to get information about it.
Explanations about the electric-circuits are not part of this manual. Please contact the electrical design group,
in order to get information about it.
2 Function Overview
The hydraulic unit consists of a supply-unit and in the maximum of 8 separate hydraulic-circuits.
Depend on the customers specification, the Hydraulic-circuits can be assigned flexible to different functions.
(Control via PMC2–Parameters Setting).
Usually the hydraulic-circuits are used to control hydraulic fixture-circuits. Each Hydraulic-circuit consists of a
Clamp-Line and an Unclamp-Line. Each Hydraulic-Line consists of an independent pressure switch.
Hydraulic-circuits 1 + 2 (pallet #1) and 11 + 12 (pallet #2) can be prepared to handle between 2 different clamp-
pressures. The pressure switching function could optionally be done via proportional valves.
PMC2-Parameters are prepared, in order to disable hydraulic functions of each pallet temporarily.
The assignment between Hydraulic-circuits and Fixture-circuits depend on the type of the hydraulic connection.
About the operation and functionality of fixture-circuits please refer to the separated documentation.
About the operation and functionality of CPH specific functions please refer to the separated documentation.
In this configuration hydraulic pressure control is possible only at stocker-side in APC Manual Mode.
M-Functions or automatically re-clamp functions can’t be used inside the work-zone.
About the operation and functionality of TPH specific functions please refer to the separated documentation.
3 Functional Description
The pump-runtime is directly combined with the (clamp / unclamp / couple / decouple) actions of the hydraulic-
circuits.
The hydraulic-circuit control will start right after the hydraulic system pressure is reached. (If a second system
pressure switch (HYDPRS2 = low pressure) is used, it will be checked simultaneously.)

Usually each hydraulic-circuit consists of a clamp-line (SL951A / L952) and an unclamp-line (SL951B / L953).
The existence of the unclamp pressure limit switch (L953) depends on the Jig Controller specification. L953 is
necessary if automatically work-piece handling is required.
In some fixture-configurations the amount of unclamp-lines is smaller than the amount of clamp-lines. In order
to organize this kind of configuration, D$Parameters are prepared.
Due to the fact, that the pressure-switches of the hydraulic-circuits are located inside the Jig-Controller, the re-
clamp-Functions may have no relationship to the real pressure-situation inside the fixture. Depend on the design
of the fixture, the pressure inside the fixture can be stable, even if the pressure switches indicate ‘low’ pressure.
Depend on the customer specification, the hydraulic-circuits are assigned to different functions.
In case of CPH the hydraulic-circuits 1-8 are assigned to pallet #1 (fixture circuits 1-8) and hydraulic-circuits
11-18 are assigned to pallet #2 (fixture circuits 11-18).
In case of TPH the hydraulic-circuits 1-8 are assigned to both pallets (fixture circuits 1-8 + 11-18). Hydraulic-
circuit 11 is assigned to the TPH coupling circuit. Signals of the hydraulic-circuits 12 -18 are used for TPH-
pressure-release functions (SL1966A) and other special customer functions. Pressure release valves for the
unclamp-lines are optional.
Hydraulic-circuits #1, #11 and #2, #12 are available with 2 pressure control for the clamp-lines (Option).
About the operation and functionality of the TPH connection please refer to the separated documentation.
Circuits 1,11 + 2,12 can be used for clamping with 2 different pressures (Option).
TPH: Clamp Sequences are only possible if the unit is coupled.

used.

***) The setting of SL1966A depends on the selected hardware. After clamping finished, SL1966A will be
cleared immediately, but SL951A + PRSSL1-1 will be cleared after a variable delay time (D$0904). (t3:
Standard = 500 msec)
****) During the dwell-time (t2) the pressure switches HYDPRS and LS952 must be ‘1’ and L953 must be ‘0’.
The assigned unclamp switch (L953) depends on D$Parameter setting.
After finishing a Clamp-action, the clamp-pressure will usually drop due to mechanical effects inside the
hydraulic-circuits.
In order to get a stable pressure situation within the circuit, automatically re-clamp-functions can be enabled.
After 2 or 3 re-clamps the pressure usually should be stable.
Re-clamp functions are only reasonable, if the fixture doesn’t use internal stop-valves. (CPH applications.)
The re-clamp functions base upon the hysteresis function of the Clamp-Pressure-Switches.
The Hysteresis of each pressure-switch should be adjusted to < 10%. (PRS (low) = PRS (max) – 10%)
It’s possible to detect circuit leakages, by setting of PMC2 Counters. Alarms will be generated, if the amount of
re-clamps becomes too much.
The re-clamp-function will start if the pressure-switch signal goes off (PRS (low)).
The re-clamp-Sequence is similar to a Work Clamp Sequence.

***) In some specifications the switches of unclamp-lines are neglected. In this case it’s necessary to assign the
missing switches by parameter settings.
During the dwell-time (t4) the pressure switches HYDPRS and L953 must be ‘1’ and L952 must be ‘0’.
