RULES AND REGULATIONS


1. Playing Court
 There shall be home and away grounds for the games in the preliminary matches.
 The opening and the final matches will be played at the Claretian volleyball ground,
Tungi while the semi-final grounds will be fixed and communicated.
2. Rotation
 The game is to be played with full rotation including the boosters.
 Three players should be in the box at the time of service while one is allowed to stay
inside the box in the opposite team.
3. Decision
 The decision of the main referee is final.
4. Service
 Service can be made from anywhere behind the back of the line of the court.
 Service should involve tossing the ball well.
 The served ball touching the net and entering the opponent court is allowed.
5. Line Matters
 All the line balls are considered on court.
 Foot marks on the centre line without crossing the line is not penalized; crossing to the
opponent’s court full foot is the foul.
6. Body Contact
 If the ball touches any part of the body once, it is not penalized but, if it touches and rolls
on the body, it is penalized.
 Carrying the ball is penalized.
 Any delay of the ball in the hands, as it will be judged by the referee, is considered a foul
(services should be made within 3 seconds after the whistle)
 Double touches are penalized.
 No one is allowed to play the ball twice consecutively.
7. Net Touching
 When the ball is in play, any contact with the net is considered a foul
8. Time-Outs
 Each team has two moments of time-out in a set. However, during the semi-finals and
finals, only three requests are allowed.
 Duration of time-out has a maximum of one minute.

 All the players must get back to the position they were in before time-out.
9. Point Counts
 The set of games played ends when one team reaches 25 and the other team remains at or
below 23.
 In case all the teams draw at 24 points, the team that creates a difference of two points
wins that set of game. If all the teams draw at 30, the one which obtains the 31 st point
wins the set.
 The winner of each game obtains 3 points and the loser no point.
 The points help each team of highest points count to progress to the next stage of semi-
final.
 In case of tie in points, head-to-head tie breaker shall be considered. If the head-to-head
fails, it will be set count.
 The league matches will be the best of three and the semi-final and final will be the best
of five.
10. Players
 There shall be a total of 12 players.
 The names of the players are to be submitted to the committee by the captain before the
inauguration of the tournament. These will be the only players to play till the league ends.
No additional players will be accepted along the way.
 Players in the court should not exceed six members.
 Information about the libero is to be made before the match begins.
 The referee should know about the substitute before he enters the court to play.
 Each substitute is allowed to enter not more than 3 times in each set.
11. Reporting and Beginning Time for Matches
 The players are to report to the playing ground by 3:45 pm.
 The matches begin at 4:00 pm; the inauguration and final matches to begin at 3:30 pm.
 A team that does not show up till 4:30 pm without information loses points to the
opponent.
12. Manager and Captain
 Each team should have a captain and manager.
13. Interaction and Complaints
 Any interaction with the referee should be done through the captain.
14. Postponing the Game
 If it rains just before the game, the referee and captains from each team to play on that
day should meet to assess the situation. If they all agree to postpone the match, the match
should be rescheduled and played within 3 days from the day the decision has been taken.
NOTE:
 There shall be gifts for the winners and those recognized for their social contributions to
the success of the tournament all ways that will seem appropriate and affordable.
 The main referee has full authority and responsibility before, during and after the match
he has officiated till departure from the court.

 All and only the members residing in the participating religious communities of Tungi
and Kola shall participate in the matches according to their capacities.
 All the participants are requested to attend the opening and final matches at least.
 Supporters are encouraged to be on the side of their teams during matches.
