Abstract

This paper is conducted on Kazi Motahar Hossain Building. Kazi Motahar Hossain Building is
at Dhaka University, Bangladesh. This building is named after Motahar Hossain who was a
great author, scientist, first Bangladeshi statistician and journalist. He was a prominent
person. This building was named in his remembrance. It's a nice place that is surrounded by
different kind of trees. It's an academic building of Science Faculty of Dhaka University. It's
just opposite of Central Shahid MInar and Dhaka Medical College. There are few important
departments here. It's a U shaped building with a big space and garden. This area consists of
more than six departments including Law, Geography, Nuclear science, Statistics, Robotics
Engineering, Mathematics etc.
It is the place where Faculty of Law of Dhaka university runs its courses here. In this Place
Bongobondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation (Bangladesh) used to study
law in British Era but he has been forced to leave study due to his involvement with the
Rights movement of the varsity employees

1.Introduction

General Background

The University of Dhaka (also known as Dhaka University, or abbreviated as DU) is a public


research university located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Nawab Bahadur Sir Khwaja Salimullah,
who played a pioneering role in establishing the university in Dhaka, donated 600 acres of
land from his estate for this purpose.
It has made significant contributions to the modern history of Bangladesh. After
the Partition of India, it became the focal point of progressive and democratic movements in
Pakistan. Its students and teachers played a central role in the rise of Bengali
nationalism and the independence of Bangladesh in 1971.
It is the oldest university in Bangladesh. It was identified by Asia Week as one of the top 100
universities in Asia. On the first day of July 1921, the university opened its doors to
students. Today, it is the largest public research university in Bangladesh, with a student
body of 37,018 and a faculty of 1,992. There is faculty of arts, science, business studies,
social science, earth and environmental science etc. The classes are taken in Curzon Hall,
Kolabhabon, Kazi Motahar Hossain Bhaban, Mukkaram Bhaban etc.
Kazi Motahar Hossain Building was once known as Science Annex Building. But later it was
named Kazi Motaher Hossain in the remembrance of Kazi Motaher Hossain who was a great
author, scientist, statistician and journalist.
This area consists of more than six departments including Law, Geography, Nuclear science,
Statistics, Robotics Engineering, Mathematics etc.

Objectives

There must be certain reasons behind any research work. The research work assesses and
sets out in summary what are all the attributes of Kazi Motahar Hossain Bhaban. The site as
a whole and its various parts of its are summarized in this report. For example how many
departments are there, when they have been established, where it is located, why it is
significant etc.

Research Methodology

The study is based on a field analysis on Kazi Motahar Hossain Bhaban which is situated in
Dhaka University in Dhaka.The whole process is conducted in the following way:

Data Collection
Data collection from the study area is very important in any sort of research work. Data can
be collected in many ways. In this research data was collected from observation method.
The site and the surroundings were analyzed. In the process, I had the freedom to be as
detail-oriented as possible when it comes to describe in any part of the site. Then data was
collected from the central library of Dhaka University and from the library of Department of
Geography and Environment. The data collection method also included collecting data from
different websites, maps etc.

Data Processing

The report is written on the basis of both primary and secondary data collection. After
completing the data collection the data was analyzed and then processed.
