A. INTRODUCTION:

The assessment aims to study the air-conditioning system (centralised / plant system), mechanical
transportation system, telecommunication system, and integrated building services system at a
commercial building.

B. INSTRUCTIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
This assignment should be carried out in a group. In a small group (max. 4 members or min. 2
members), you are required to study (desktop study / online study) any commercial building in
Malaysia or overseas, which is currently using the Integrated Building Services System (IBS).

From the case study, you have to study how the system works and determine the advantages of this
system. You are also required to identify the problems faced by the occupants and maintenance staff.

In your case study, each group needs to explain on the following systems:

1. Centralised Air-conditioning system

2. Lift/elevator system and Escalator system
3. Telecommunication system
4. Integrated Building Services System

C. REPORT CONTENTS:

1.0 Chapter 1 : Building Background

History, location, map, photo &, etc.

2.0 Chapter 2 : Literature Review

Introduction to the system, operation, types, safety aspect, etc.

3.0 Chapter 3 : Case Study

Detail explanation of the type of system used, operation, maintenance, etc.

4.0 Chapter 4 : Conclusion & Recommendation

You summarised your report.

5.0 References
List out all your references.

D. PREPARATION & SUBMISSION OF REPORT (15%)

i. The report must be submitted in a complete format, including page number, header, and
footer.
ii. A-4 computer typing (Arial 11, 1.5 spacing)
iii. Appropriate diagram, illustration, chart, and photo with proper labels arrangement are
compulsory
iv. Online submission
