FEEDBACK:

Formative assessment is designed to provide students with feedback on

progress and inform development. It does not contribute to the overall
assessment;
Summative assessment provides a measure of achievement or failure made in
respect of a student's performance in relation to the intended learning outcomes.

3. Introduction - The scenario

You have been appointed as Head of Risk by ABC Contractors to undertake a

full risk assessment for a project at the final design andconstruction stages.

The proposed project is considered complex due to its size, novel design and
unique site characteristics thatjustify specialist technologies and services.State
the specific parameters for your selected project.

In your role as the Head of Risk unit, you are expected to provide an
assessment of the qualitative and quantitative methods of risk identification, risk
assessment and evaluation and write a well-reasoned report to recommend
specific methodsto help identify the risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

The client, who has a low appetite for risk is encouraging the use of BIM in the
project and is seeking your advice relatingto the associated risks in the project.

The client has instructed you that the submitted report must focus on the
following;

1. Evaluation of complexity issues which may affect risk exposure in the

project;

2. Criticalevaluation ofqualitative and quantitative methods of risk

identification in design and construction stages of the project;

3. Recommendation of the most relevant techniques and processes to

minimise exposure to risk (e.g. Monte Carlo simulation, Brain Storming,
Interviews, Historic Data, etc.);

4. Critical identification of risk factors in collaborative projects using Building

Information Modelling.

5. Report Writing (week 15)

This assignment is expected to be a professionally written report of 3000 (+/-

10%) words. The marking scheme indicates how different learning outcomes will
be assessed. Your report must aim to directly respond to the brief provided in
this document using logical reasoning and evidence. The data that you use in
your report must be derived from reliable sources, be factual and up-to-date.
This report is also perceived as an academic report and therefore the use of
proper referencing and adequate citation of sources in Harvard style is
compulsory.
The report must be checked for English grammar and spelling before final
submission on Blackboard as a .docx file. When submitting your file please
follow the saving instructions below:

Student_ID_Module Code_A2_Day.Month.Year.docx

Note:It is important to avoid direct speech including writing in the first person
(e.g. I, we, you, etc.). Any abbreviations used in your report must be fully
explained.

6. Interim online Feedback

Please use Blackboard Ultra for tutorial sessions and email further queries to the
