Scoring:

Sum up your scores for each of the following statement groups:

(1, 7, 13, 19)
(2, 8, 14, 20)
(3, 9, 15, 21)
(4, 10, 16, 22)
(5, 11, 17, 23)
(6, 12, 18, 24)

Each of these groups represents one dimension of leadership charisma as explained in

the next section. Your score on each dimension will range from 4 to 20. The higher your
scores, the more you demonstrate charismatic behaviors. An overall score of all groups
of 85 or higher would indicate fairly strong charismatic qualities.

Interpretation:

Charismatic leaders are ones whom followers perceive as having heroic or extraordinary
leadership abilities. They tend to have high self-confidence and strong convictions about
their beliefs, and followers are attracted to charismatic-types. This instrument taps six
basic dimensions of charisma:

1. Management of attention: How close attention do you pay to people with

whom you are communicating? Do they have clear ideas about the relative
importance of priorities?
2. Management of meaning: How effective are you at getting your meaning
across?
3. Management of trust: Are you perceived as willing to follow through on
promises and take clear positions on issues?
4. Management of self: How concerned are you about the welfare of others, their
feelings, and your own self-regard?
5. Management of risk: Are you willing to take risks for those things you believe in?
Are you willing to accept some failures in pursuit of your goals?
6. Management of feelings: Can you tap into the feelings of others and make their
work more meaningful for them?
