Dey Elementary was built/open in September 1956 with their first principal, Joseph J.Owens Jr. The purpose of this school was to diminish the crowded conditions at Little Creek Elementary, so in their first year only grades five through seven were being taught. Fun fact about the school’s name: the school received its names from a former Princess Anne County School Board Chairman who resided very close to the school. And their school mascot is a seagull!
