Blood Sugar

13.a Coefficient of Insulin Secretion Normal Range: (2.967 – 3.528)

Definition
Insulin is a hormone made by the pancreas that allows your body to use sugar (glucose) from
carbohydrates in the food that you eat for energy or to store glucose for future use. Insulin helps balance
your blood sugar levels from getting too high (hyperglycemia) or too low (hypoglycemia).
If your body does not produce insulin or not enough as in type 1 diabetes or your cells are resistant to
the effects of insulin as in type II diabetes; you may develop hyperglycemia (high blood sugar).
Hyperglycemia means high sugar in the blood. Hyperglycemia is a defining characteristic of diabetes,
most commonly type II. Causes include poor diet, being overweight, high levels of inflammation,
sedentary lifestyle, toxins, viruses or harmful chemicals, high blood pressure, heart disease, high-stress
levels and medications which disrupt insulin production such as prednisone, beta blockers, diuretics
and antipsychotic drugs.
People who have diabetes either do not make insulin, not enough or is insulin resistant. As a result,
glucose tends to build up in the bloodstream and may reach dangerously high levels. To correct this
problem, someone with diabetes may take insulin or other drugs to lower blood sugar levels. But too
much insulin or other diabetes medications may cause your blood sugar level to drop too low, causing
hypoglycemia.
Hypoglycemia may also happen if you don't eat as much food as usual after taking diabetes medication,
or if you exercise more than you normally would. Other causes are excessive alcohol consumption,
anorexia, liver diseases, such as severe hepatitis, kidney diseases, and hormone disorders.
Hypoglycemia usually occurs when you haven't eaten (when you're in a fasting state), but that's not
always the case. Sometimes it occurs after meals because the body produces more insulin than is
needed.
High Reading - If your Coefficient of Insulin Secretion reading is higher than 3.528, you may be at risk
for developing hypoglycemia. Symptoms include an irregular heart rhythm, fatigue, pale skin, shakiness,
anxiety, sweating, hunger, irritability and brain fog.

Low Reading - If your Coefficient of Insulin Secretion reading is lower than 2.967, it may indicate your
body is not producing enough insulin, or you have become insulin resistant. You are at risk for
developing hyperglycemia and/or diabetes. Symptoms include frequent urination, increased thirst,
blurred vision, fatigue, and headache.

Please note, it is possible to have symptoms of both conditions if your sugar levels aren’t managed.

Suggested Lifestyle Changes, Foods & Supplements

Hyperglycemia – Exercise a minimum of 150 minutes per week, lose weight, reduce consumption of
trans-fat (partially hydrogenated oil) and saturated fats (cheese, butter, meat), eliminate refined sugars
and gluten, cow’s milk, and all GMO foods.

Blood Sugar

13.b Blood Sugar Coefficient Normal Range: (2.163 – 7.321)

Definition
Blood sugar, or glucose, is the main sugar found in your blood. It comes from the food you eat and is
your body's main source of energy. Your blood carries glucose to all of your body's cells to use for
energy. Blood sugar levels rise and fall throughout the day. A healthy body regulates blood glucose
levels so that they are neither too high nor too low.
High Reading- If your Blood Sugar Coefficient reading is higher than 7.321, this may be due to lack of
insulin as seen in Type I or II Diabetes, physical inactivity, infections or illness, changes in hormone
levels, a meal or snack with more carbs than usual, etc.
Low Reading -If your Blood Sugar Coefficient reading is lower than 2.163, this may be due to missing a
meal or snack, alcoholic drinks especially on an empty stomach, more activity than planned, too much
diabetes medication or insulin production.

Suggested Lifestyle Changes, Foods, and Supplements

• It is very important to keep your blood sugar levels stable and steady. Recent research has
linked blood sugar to heart disease, memory difficulties, and even fertility problems.
• Drink moderately
• Reduce saturated fat intake – People with the highest blood levels of saturated fats were twice as
likely to develop diabetes.
• Exercise
• Get enough sleep – Consistently get 8 hours. Sleep deprivation has a dramatic effect on your
blood sugar and insulin levels.
• Don’t skip a meal - Your blood sugar plummets, then when you do eat; your system is flooded
with glucose, forcing your pancreas to release more insulin creating a dangerous cycle.
Supplements
• Omega 3’s
• Berberine
• Ceylon cinnamon
• Aloe
• Ashwagandha
• Ginkgo
• Garlic
• Magnesium
• Chromium
• Green coffee bean extract
• Glucosamine
Blood Sugar

• Rhodiola
• Reishi mushroom
• Tart cherry juice may lower blood sugar
Blood Sugar

13.c Urine Sugar Coefficient Normal Range: (2.204 – 2.819)

Definition
Sugar (glucose) is usually present in the urine at very low levels or not at all. Abnormally high amounts
of sugar in the urine, known as glycosuria, are often the result of high blood sugar levels. High blood
sugar usually occurs in diabetes, especially when untreated.
Normally, when blood is filtered through the kidneys, some sugar remains in the fluid that will later
become urine. If the level of blood sugar is low, as is usually the case, the body can reabsorb the sugar
from this fluid before it leaves the kidney to be excreted as urine. When the blood sugar is high, there is
too much sugar in the fluid leaving the kidney to be reabsorbed, so some sugar passes into the urine.
High Reading - If your Urine Sugar Coefficient reading is higher than 2.819, it may indicate diabetes or
pre-diabetes, a high sugar diet, cirrhosis of the liver, a urinary tract infection, hyperglycemia or
hyperthyroidism. It can also be caused by emotion. Some emotions, like fear and anger, can cause the
release of adrenaline. Adrenaline encourages the breakdown of sugars to create energy for the fight-or-
flight response, causing a temporary spike in blood sugar levels and potentially an increase in urine
glucose as well.
