INTRODUCTION
 Organophosphate pesticides: control of domestic pests and
in agriculture

 The electroanalytical methods: speedy, low-cost, simple,

potentially portable, easy-to-use

 Application of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) in

electrochemical sensors: good electrochemical durability and
higher performance in electrical conductivity

 Zirconia presents strong affinity for organophosphorus

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
 In this work an electrochemical sensor was developed by
using a composite containing a high percentage of
multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) dispersed in a
zirconia matrix by sol-gel method

 The composite MWCNT/zirconia showed a mesoporous

nature, surface area of 135 m2 g−1

N2 desorption/adsorption isotherm of  CHN showed that 45% of carbon was incorporated in the
composite composite
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
 Differential pulse voltammetry
 Detection limit: 9.0 × 10−9 mol L−1
 Linear interval:
19.9 × 10−6 at 176.8 × 10−6 mol L−1
 Repeatability: RSD 0.91% for 13
cycles
 Reproducibility: RSD 14.2%
 Soybean extract with addition of
methyl parathion CONCLUSION
Recoveries: 102 to 113%, with RSD 5.2%
 The developed sensor demonstrated to
be adequate for its utilization in the
determination of methyl parathion with
the purpose to ensure food safety
