WHAT I CAN DO
The main Common Features of sportwear is that they made of breathable materials and
transport moisture as it promotes removal of perspiration from the skin though the
clothing to the outside, which keeps the wearer's body dry. They move perspiration
away from the body to the fabric's outer surface where it can evaporate. These clothing
commonly has durability characteristics include strength, stretchability, elastic recovery,
abrasion resistance, tear resistance, color fading, body odor resistance and UV
resistance. It also has a comfort characteristic which can be divided into tactile and
thermo-physiological comfort. These fabrics typically are soft, lightweight, and stretchy
—in other words, they are perfectly suited for making activewear.

Sports/Activity Explanation/Reason
1. American Football The features of the American football clothing
are actually not suited in the Philippine
weather, because football uniforms turn up
the heat. It's not just the heat and humidity
that make football players especially
vulnerable, it’s also their uniform. Sweat can't
cool the player off, because it can't evaporate.
Instead, it soaks his clothes, which include a
helmet, shoulder pads, two shirts and
sweatpants, on top of the underwear, shoes
and socks. Of course, there's a reason player
wear all those heat-inducing layers and
protective gear and that is to avoid injuries,
commonly head injuries and broken necks
due to the tackle that happens during the
game.

2. Beach Volleyball Many beach volleyball players prefer to wear

breathable or loose clothing like tank tops
and shorts, which can keep you cool and are
easy to move quickly in. For footwear, players
tend to play barefoot. However, because
beach volleyball is normally played outside,
the sand can get hot and potentially injure
your feet. Sand socks are a great way to
prevent burns, help keep your feet cool, and
allow you to get proper footing in the sand.
Overall, the sportswear in beach volleyball is
suited in the Philippine weather.
3. Archery Generally speaking, an archer wears well
fitting clothes, short or long sleeve shirts with
no buttons, jeans or short pants and
comfortable, stable footwear. They avoid baggy
clothing and wearing jewelry. One important
aspect of this, regardless they should use
comfortable clothing. On hot weather, many
archers wear lightweight, long-sleeve shirts to
avoid sunburn. A hat to protect their head,
glasses to prevent glare, and shoes to keep
them comfortable while standing a long time.
They use (thermo) shirts which transports
moisture and sweat away from their skin
making them suited for Philippine weather.

4. Karate Karategi is the formal Japanese name for the

traditional uniform used for Karate practice
and competition. The features in these
clothing is that the material and cut of the
uniform is generally much lighter and looser
fitting than Judo uniform. Because of the
nature of Karate training which emphasizes
striking, kicking and a more limited range of
standing throws compared to Judo the
karategi has evolved in a manner that
maximizes mobility and speed without the
extremely coarse and strong fabric required
for grappling and throwing found in Judo. It is
often cut from a light fabric similar to that of a
summer shirt. They are recommended to use
heavier karategi because heavier suits will be
more rigid. This rigidity increases ventilation
within the suit. It is not unusual for a martial
artist to feel better cooled when using a
heavier karategi, truly good for Philippine
weather.

5. Baseball In baseball, each player should have a shirt or

jersey, knee-length or longer pants, baseball
socks/stirrups, shoes with rubber cleats, and
a hat to shield the hot summer sun from their
face and eyes. The pants offer some degree of
protection from harmful Ultraviolet (UV)
radiation. They're technical fabrics, they're
moisture-resistant. The material is also
resistant to abrasions so the uniform always
has the same sharp appearance as the very
first game. They rarely use polyester fabrics
because polyester ones got a little bit more on
the hot side. The fabrics used in baseball
uniform nowadays is actually getting designed
more for the hot seasons. Even so, it could still
be not suited in the Philippine weather, it still
depends on how hot the weather will be.
Basically, it’s a half-half.
WHAT’S MORE
In order for the two boxers to do their best at the battle, they need to adopt to
the hot weather. The best way to get acclimatized is to work in the actual conditions
(temperature and humidity) that they have to endure. They could either do sparring
and training under sweltering conditions inside several gyms to prepare for the heat
weeks before the fight. Their body needs adjustments where they have to figure out
how their body will react to the intense heat while training. Their challenge of fighting
in hot weather is not whether they’re in shape or not, it's how well they can keep the
water in their body and slow down the process of dehydration. It is advisable to
replenish lost fluids even before feeling thirsty.
