Teaching Guide in Creative Nonfiction

TOPIC/LESSON NAME Elements of Nonfiction


The learner understands the literary conventions that govern the different genres. (e.g.,
CONTENT STANDARDS narrative convention of fiction, etc.)
The learner clearly and coherently uses a chosen element conventionally identified with a
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS genre for a written output
LEARNING COMPETENCIES 1. Identify dominant literary conventions of a particular genre

At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:


 Identify factual/ nonfictional elements.
SPECIFIC LEARNING OUTCOMES
 Analyze factual/nonfictional elements (Plot, Characters, Characterization, Point of
View, Angle, Setting and Atmosphere, Symbols and Symbolisms, Irony, Figures of
speech, Dialogue, Scene, Other elements and Devices) in the texts.
TIME ALLOTMENT 90 minutes

LESSON OUTLINE:
1. INTRODUCTION : Welcome and orient the students regarding the subject and the objective for lesson 1 for third quarter.
2. MOTIVATION : Enable the learners to answer a memory game regarding the different elements of nonfiction.
3. INSTRUCTION/DELIVERY : Learners will view and answer an interactive memory game regarding the different elements of nonfiction.
4. PRACTICE : Learners will answer an interactive pre-test interactive memory game regarding the different elements of nonfiction.
5. ENRICHMENT : The learners will answer an interactive quiz to be able to identify the different elements of nonfiction.
6. EVALUATION : Learners will compose a not less than 300-word reaction paper about the elements of nonfiction present in the news report, “Philippines Coronavirus
Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Situation Report #50.”

1. INTRODUCTION (5 minutes) Vocabulary Enrichment.

to answer one.
3. Always see to it that you only type related materials on the message box. Learners will share their communication thoughts
