3

2. Industry analysis
The business of food has gained noticeable momentum over the past few decades and the
number of people joining the business has grown significantly. The increasing spending
capacity of Nepalese has been one of the major factors for this. The industry of restaurant and
karaoke is mostly effective in urban areas. The number of restaurants across the country
clearly indicates the profitable opportunities that exist in the eatery sector.

For the industry analysis Your Fine Dine has choose Michael Porter’s industry forces model.
The five forces are threat of new entrants, bargaining power of customers, bargaining power
of suppliers, threat of substitutes, and competitive rivalry within the industry.

 Threat of new entrants

In Itahari’s present situation there are many restaurants but restaurants having Korean
cuisines are only few. Also, the major part is that there are no karaoke services in Itahari,
but by seeing the profit-making opportunity it is expected that there will be entrance of
huge number of companies trying to duplicate business plan of Your Fine Dine.
 Bargaining power of buyer
The bargaining power of buyer is low because our business is cost fixed that customer
does not bargain. Also, our restaurant has a little bit advantage by being only one direct
competitor in Itahari, as because there are no such restaurants in Itahari which have
karaoke in it and also Korean cuisines. In addition, our business will mainly focus on
teenagers that they want to enjoy and party with their friends. Including, the service in our
karaoke has a quality to provide our customer.
 Bargaining power of supplier
The bargaining power of suppliers is high because we are purchasing product in a lot of
numbers. And it has a lot of restaurants in Itahari to provide the equipment. And the costs
of products are not difference with the general market.
 Threat of substitutes
Threat of substitute for YFD is high. There are lot of substitutes available in market.
Customers may switch to other restaurants if the feel like the cost of our restaurants is too
high.
 Competitor’s rivalry
4

The rivalry between exiting competitor around our restaurant is low. Our restaurant has
the competitor in direct and indirect. However, it doesn’t affect the business, our
restaurant
has the identity of style such as a Korean culture theme, paintings of Kpop artists and a
quality of equipment’s. And the major point is that we have karaoke service where the
restaurants in Itahari doesn’t have.

2.1 SWOT analysis

Strengths

 Only restaurant that has karaoke in Itahari market

 Location close to main market and colleges
 Customer oriented
 Attractive store design

Weaknesses

 Recruiting and retaining quality employees

 Lack of experience
 Uncertainties about business success
 Competitors may offer similar products/services

Opportunities

 Increasing interest in Korean cuisines

 Increasing trends of Korean pop and dramas among Nepalese youths
 No direct competitors in Itahari.

Threats

 Possibility of new entrants

 Political instability in country
 Existing businesses providing substitutes product like Nepalese cuisines and fast
foods could pose threat to our business
 Indirect competitors in market

2.2 PEST analysis

 Political
5

Political uncertainty and instability of government with the collapse of constituent

assembly can negatively affect the business plan. In Nepal there is so much political
instability which may bring chaos to the business.

 Economical
Economic factor affecting business are interest rate, wage rates, and the rate of inflation
(i.e. general level of increase in prices). Currently, in Nepal inflation is prevailing and it
may affect the function of business.
 Social
Social factor affecting business includes culture, norms, lifestyle, population changes etc.
The country is seeing the changing family structure and rising middle and upper middle
class. This can be an opportunity for the company to commence a business.
 Technological
The advancement in the IT has given businesses to better manage its customer profile,
transactions and relationships with key stakeholders. Nepalese companies have realized
the importance and power of having updated technology and have focused on Product
innovations, applications of knowledge, new communication technologies. YFD can
benefit from this rapid change in technology as long as the cost of new technology is
reasonable.
6

3. Market Analysis
The restaurant industry is a large and diverse business. Recent years have seen the start-up of
many new restaurants in the city, the industry is fairly stable. Restaurants are available in
every area. However, if we see in Itahari there are only one or few restaurants that serves
Korean cuisines and the major point is that there are no such restaurants or bars that has
karaoke in it. As of now there is increase in trend of Korean pops and Korean dramas so does
youths are getting interested in Korean cuisines, thus people looking for Korean cuisines will
be attracted in us.

3.1 Market segmentation

YFD will appeal to a broad base of consumers in both the residential and business
community. The location selected for YFD was chosen primarily to appeal to the growing
number of populations in the area. YFD intends to cater to a wide customer base. We want
everyone to feel welcome and entertained.

 Demographic Segmentation

Our geographically segmented target market is mostly teenagers and Urban upper- & Middle-
class families.

 Geographically Segmentation

Geographically segmentation, as being a start-up business so mainly focus will be in Itahari.

 Psychographic Segmentation

Psychographic target market will be teenagers looking place for enjoyment and families
looking place to relax and chill out.

3.2 Competitor comparison

In Itahari, there are several restaurants operating in almost every area. Direct competitor of
Your Fine Dine are those individuals who are involved in providing Karoke, Korean cuisines.
If we see there are no direct competitors that are providing the same service as ours. There
are no such restaurants or bars that has karaoke in it or there is no karaoke place where people
can sing and eat in itahari. Also, there are one or only few restaurants that have Korean
7

cuisines. Indirect competitors are those restaurants that has fast-foods and Nepalese cuisines.
There are many indirect competitors in the market some of the main are Burger house, Big
bar and grill, Majheri, Purbanchal etc. Such indirect competitors may pose threat to our
business.

4. Marketing plan
Although there are many players in the market but still, we will increase our customer base
through our marketing strategies. We will aware our customers through effective marketing
plan. The strategy we will choose depends upon the expectation and trends of customers,
competition in the industry, and other external environmental factors. Now a days, everyone
are into social media from young teens to old adults thus we will take advantage of social
medias too. Through our marketing efforts we want our customers to know that:

 Our restaurants have relaxing ambiance where friends, family can chill
 We are offering different and tasty Korean cuisines
 We are the first one bringing karaoke entertainment service in Itahari market
 Our ideas are creative and innovative.

4.1 Product

update and add items according to the trends, taste and preferences of customers

 Korean cuisines (Haejang, Gamjathang, Kimchi items, Bibimbap, Japchae, Tofu,

Ramyeon, Kimpbap, Sushi, Pajeon, Hobak juk, Tteokbokki etc)

sadheko, aalu sadheko, chatpate etc)
 Soft drink, Beverages and Hard drinks

And for karaoke there will be 4 separate rooms where customer can sing and enjoy.

4.2 Price
At YFD, cost accounting is important, since the profitability of individual dishes can vary
significantly and will initially determine the cost of the menu items. Also, we will be using
bundle pricing strategy where we will combine several products and sell them in a single
price like Breakfast set, Brunch set, Lunch set, Dinner set etc. We will closely monitor the
8
