Roots on the ground:
deep understanding and respect for people

“In Africa, local communities

discuss important issues in
the shadow, under the tree.
Once in Mozambique, when we
had a threat of strike, we met
the workers on site and
mediated the situation where
it had to be: under the mango
tree.
They were listened, we were
listened and there was no
strike.”

Andrew Schnitzer da Silva, CEO

digital transformation in progress

“ Three months after we started

working with a big client, we
had to deal with a threat of
strike. The workers wanted a
raise. As there was no openness
to revise contracts, the unions
suggested to the client that
Ascending was not paying what
it was supposed to.
We were then called to a
meeting to clarify payments and
the client had already prepared

Nuno Teves, Co-founder

Always with a wider scope:
building expertise on ‘whole unit’ management

“The best way to feel that our work is

valued is when we’re challenged for
something bigger. That’s what happened with
the Halliburton Vessel.
At the last meeting for the tender, top
level, everything was going very well and
close to the end we were asked how many
vessels had we managed up to that day. I
paused a little and answered: ‘Yours will
be our first one’.
Despite the challenge and the risk, the
track of our past work was recognized.
We were chosen and it was the begging of a
great experience, for everyone involved.”

Good things happen when a group of workers join
forces, buy a piece of the company they work for and
start something new together.

That’s how Ascending started. The year was 2017. The

group of people were our founders: Andrew Schnitzer
da Silva and Nuno Teves. They got together to acquire
Adcorp’s interests in Angola and Mozambique, and use
their 15 years of experience to start Ascending.

Completing 5 years of intense activity,

we maintain our willingness to challenge
and deliver and with that
improve lives and organizations.

The inspiration of Mentors ...

Ascending was based on four pillars that represent the learnings I have
gathered throughout the years of experience in various different
companies.
Ethics – As a trainee at Welsh, Gomes & Aguiar, I learnt the importance
of compliance, organization and commitment to perform inside the
written and moral rules of business.
Rigor – At Accenture, I learnt the importance of rigor and through it,
how to translate strategic thought into operational results.
Collaboration – At Hay Group, I learnt that working together always
brings you better results than working alone.
Ambition – At Capital Outsourcing Group I learnt how ambition can be
the driver and catalyst for growth and for change within markets and
organizations.
