connection. Please refer to the information on
the relevant types in the following sections.

Installation of the KN3-923 takes place in 4 stages:

1. Installation preparation
2. Removal of the KN923 from the switchgear cabinet
3. Installation of the KN3-923 in the switchgear cabinet
4. Connecting the KN3-923

These stages are described in the following subsections.

3.1.1. Preparation

3.1.1.1 Checking the old KN923.xx type

The type KN923.xx safety systems differ in terms of their connection. Prior to installation it is
therefore necessary to check which type (KN932.1, KN932.11, KN932.2, KN932.21) is installed
in your system.

Determine which KN923.xx type is installed:

1 Open the switchgear cabinet door. Locate the

3.2. Commissioning KN3-923 and commissioning tests

The KN3-923 is largely preassembled on delivery so that only a few settings and checks need
to be made for the commissioning procedure.

CAUTION Commissioning and all tests should only be

performed by authorised technical personnel.
Faulty connections and errors during
commissioning can damage the system or
even the engine! Refer to the technical data
in Section 4. Ask our qualified staff. We would
be pleased to assist you in commissioning.

Preparation for commissioning the KN3-923

 Prerequisite: All lines connected correctly.

 Prerequisite: All channels that can trigger an engine shut down must be checked to
ensure that they are functioning correctly prior to commissioning.

CAUTION The engine may be damaged in the event of a

malfunction if the channels that trigger an
automatic or emergency stop are not checked
prior to commissioning!

1 Check that all resistors for wire break

monitoring of the sensor inputs
are connected.
 The resistors must be connected directly to the sensor switching contacts.

2 Check whether all terminals X1, X2, X3, X4,
