A Reaction Paper on Aladdin

Aladdin is a 2019 American musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Pictures. Directed by
Guy Ritchie from a script he co-wrote with John August, it is a live-action adaptation of
Disney’s 1992 animated film of the same name, which itself is based on the eponymous tale
from One Thousand and One Nights. In October 20166, Disney announced Ritchie would direct
a live-action Aladdin remake. Principal photography began that September at Longcross Studios
in Surrey. England is also filming in the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan, and lasted until January
2018. Additional filming and pick-ups took place in August 2018. Aladdin was theatrically
released in United States on May 24, 2019. It grossed $1 billion worldwide, becoming the ninth-
highest-grossing film of 2019, and the 34th highest-grossing film of all time during its theatrical
run.

The visuals were so beautiful. The costume design was so pretty, all the royals in this movie
looked so colorful and shiny especially Jasmine. The editing in this movie was super cool, Rajah
the tiger and Iago looked very real and it kind of got a little scary with Iago ass he turned into a
demon bird. The characters played their parts well. Mena Massoudd acted very well, ha had
very convinced and so did Will Smith. Will smith was very funny in this movie. Naomi was the
perfect jasmine, she was beautiful in every way and very empowering. The soundtrack was
amazing. I fell in love with the song Speechless, Arabian Nights, One Jump Ahead but I don’t
feel satisfied in the scene where they sang A Whole New World. Absolutely stunning
cinematography, amazing musical numbers, beautiful vocals and show stopping choreography.
This movie made me feel like a child again, it was enchanting and the amount of chills and goose
bumps. The cast really did the original justice. Overall this movie is awesome. I would watch it a
hundred times. It will make you feel nostalgic. It has several morals which are women deserved
to be heard and seen, always do the right thing, don’t trust everybody and you can’t buy a
woman. If I were the writer of the story I would change the ending of it because the ending of
Aladdin is a happy ending. Disney needs to stop doing a happy ending in each of their movies
for various reasons like its damaging for the kid to always believe that everything will work out
in the end. It’s a sort of lies to kids because in real life things don’t go the way we plan and we
don’t always have a happy ending. Not every dreamy guy is a prince, not every mother is kind.
We need to teach the kids in the younger age that life isn’t like fairytale.
I like genie a lot very happy, fun-loving character and is rarely seen without a big smile on his
face. He often likes to crack jokes while I am a type of girl that has a few words, few smile, few
laughter and I don’t really trust people and I have to convince myself first that not everybody is
evil. I really want the qualities that genie has I want to be happy in this world that full of chaos,
because happiness is a key to success and also its really hard to achieve happiness in today’s
time. The real life people or events that reminded me by this movie is the life of all human
beings on earth, yes! I’m confident to say that all of us has a similar story with this film:
betrayal, greed, loyalty, forgiveness, sacrifice and contentment because life is not perfect and it
will never be perfect. Even the most amazing people in the world were not perfect, they were
scared by the sufferings, hardships, losses and imperfections but you just have to make the very
best of it and you have to open your heart to what the world can show you. Sometimes it’s
terrifying and sometimes it’s incredibly beautiful. I learned that do not try to be someone else or
to conform to what others perceive us to be. Be who you are meant to be and live your life with
honesty, you must believe in yourself always, even more so when others doubt or discourage
you, Aladdin taught us the importance of friendship both good and bad. The sultan out all his
trust in him only to have betray him. However, Aladdin shoed what true friendship really was
when he set the Genie free with his last wish. Aladdin chooses friendship over material
possessions and lastly don’t be greedy when Aladdin meets Genie and discovers that he will be
granted three wishes, Genie breaks done the rules to him. Aladdin didn’t complained much and it
is a good life rule to not be greedy when someone is offering you a bunch of free stuff. I enjoyed
this film as an entertainment because it really shows what people really possess in real life
situations and it gives a life lessons and realizations that we need to apply in our everyday life, to
avoid betrayal, danger and guilt.

This movie was very well done. I really enjoyed the acting and songs. Also I really loved the plot
because it keeps similar to the original. I also loved the strong female role and the emphasis on
that. The sorcery was disturbing, even more than in the original. Aladdin was much better than
expected. Very colorful movie, with many funny parts, great songs and beautiful scenes. I loved
how they portrayed Jasmine as a strong woman, who wants to be heard or lead. However, I can’t
really recommend the movie for the kids because the character of Jafar was way too eerie and
not appropriate to sensitive kids because it contains: violence and scary scenes but there are so
much to like about this movie.
